Thank you, Alan Marchant, for the gorgeous routes you take us on!
Let's talk about dancing with confidence! This is a topic that has come up a lot in conversations with dancers, and that a lot of dancers struggle with ...-- myself included. I find that when we don’t have confidence when we dance, it affects all aspects of our being: the way we move, the way we think, and the way we feel. A lack of confidence can look differently in different people: It can be related to learning and remembering choreography. It can be a lack of confidence in our technique, or knowledge, or dance ability. It can be a constant fear of being judged, by others or ourselves. And it may be a feeling of embarrassment by your dancing, and feeling uncomfortable to have others watch you dance. Does any of this sound familiar? It does to me. I grew up dancing Classical Ballet and Israeli Dance, and despite my many years of training (and compliments from others), my confidence level was very low. It wasn’t until I became a teacher that I noticed that my confidence level is negatively affecting something I love doing. That’s when I started working on improving my confidence level, both for myself and to be able to show up for my students the way I wanted to. I believe that confidence in dancing brings freedom: freedom of movement and spirit, and that is the essence and pleasure of dance. When we dance with confidence we can be fully present: in the dance, the music, and in our surroundings. And when we dance with confidence we can connect to ourselves and to others dancing with and around us. And I also know from experience that this is something that can be improved! I found that there are three steps to help us boost our confidence level, that I will be sharing in a FREE workshop next week. The workshop will give you more info and practical tools that you can start using and applying in your daily life. It will be on Zoom, with a combination of presentation style and movement. At the end of the workshop you’ll get a FREE booklet with info and exercises to use at home at your own pace. There are 2 dates to choose from for your convenience (please note times are PST). Please follow the link to register so I know who to expect: https://www.talandyael.com/confidence-workshop And please don’t hesitate to comment or DM me if you have any questions! Hope you can join me :) See more
