My studio wall is filled with art. If you see anything you like please let me know. Cards, magnets and mixed media available too.
Yup, still painting.
Mixed media. Long ,narrow 8" x 24" ,playing with yellow and resin again.
Done. 30" x 30".
This is made on a wood panel with handmade paper, skeleton leaves, layers of colours and metallic paint. It is a change from my creature portraits and possibly a way to bring some sun like properties into the studio after a series of rainy July days.
Now that my excitement of the morning is over and the lost dog is back with her family I can resume work on my 30" by 30" cat face. Still needs whiskers, highlights and quite a bit more work but he is already showing his cat-itude.
Finished work hanging on the walls for now.
The wind and the dubious weather keeps delaying my Tent Gallery idea so I won't be opening until weather permits.. I'm afraid it will end up in Michelson's field and scare the sheep. Here's a couple of samples of what I am currently working on.These are just finished.
Process is messy and chaotic. My studio is no exception. For the first time in months I am taking a deep dive into work again and though I try to clear space regularly this is what my studio usually looks like. In the summer I tuck away the mess and turn my studio into a gallery. It is, for a brief time, a much more coherent looking space. I can't do that right now and for the first summer in a long time my studio will continue to look like this. It's a wonderful, albeit, also frustrating experience when the creative juices flow! All artists, right now, through this Covid 19 experience are being challenged to come up with new ways to connect with people and at some point I will attempt a virtual studio tour. For now welcome to what I do and how I do it. In my next post I will also show you what is currently available.
My new card arrived yesterday (5" x7") and I am happy with this handsome fellow. He was originally going to be displayed at the cancelled Birder event in April. Few have seen him as he was a Valentine's Day present for a sweetheart. Many thanks go to Wendy Davis as her photographs provide me with so much inspiration to paint these amazing creatures. I have a pair living in my yard too, but it has been made abundantly clear, if I hold a glass, a garden tool or a camera in my hand they will disappear immediately.
Rainy day paper play. These are 15" by 23". Acrylic ink, paint, stonehenge paper, paint markers, pens etc. Splat, Dot & Wobble.
