New growth finally happening on my #bloodymaryphilodendron ! Yay! I've had the rooted cutting for about 2 months now and recently made space for it in my "ICU" tank that boasts a luxurious seedling mat to keep those baby roots warm. I traded a bunch of my stuff away for plant cuttings and am sure that none of them would have survived in my cold, drafty house without the extra boost that the heated mat brings them so yay! I'm still on "break", working toward a few days actuall...y off. Been extremely busy renovating, missing out on making cute content to share either here or @schuhbuilders because... because, I guess. FYI, I haven't sent out any orders received in the last 2 weeks/over the break but I will be catching up on those this week, and start showing up here a little more again once my new (separate) workshop/bedroom situation is settled a bit! I'm starting to move in toooomoooorrow See more

Tofu is pouncing into 2021 with some wacky kitten ferocity, shall we tag along? I can't believe I took ten photos of her this year!! Which one is your favourite? This year was a doozy. Thanks for being here! Both on the planet and participating in my insta-adventures. I am acutely grateful for what I have, what I've failed at and learned (and am still learning) and accomplished this year and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. We're here thinking of you, friends and family and those who didn't get out so lucky. May we continue to fight and learn and win, mend and make amends as we crack open our new calendars

Good morning you may recall a recent story I posted in search of the 2021 @certaindayscalendar ! Well, I got some, and I have a handful available for local distribution. They're more than just gorgeous... Certain Days collective and contributors span both sides of prison walls. The calendar is fundraiser and educational project, sharing art, historical dates, prisoner birthdays, interviews and essays from the struggle for prison abolition and just surviving incarceration. ...2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the Certain Days collective. From The Indypendent: Each new edition of the calendar features 12 original artworks and essays related to a theme this year it is Knitting Together the Struggles and marks key dates such as the Trans Prisoner Day of Action, radical history like the Attica Prison Rebellion, or the births and deaths of revolutionaries. I always look at it as a bit of a Trojan Horse, added Daniel McGowan, who first contributed to the calendar in 2008 while serving a seven-year sentence for charges for his role in a series of actions related to the Earth Liberation Front, and became a member of the collective after his release. It is really important to know one’s history, especially for new people, who tend to feel by themselves, McGowan told The Indypendent (full link to the article is in my bio). When he hung the calendar in his cell he says the events he read about in it helped him understand, you are part of something that extends deeper into the past and while your experience here feels very intense to you, it is part of a broader tapestry. --- I'm selling these at a sliding scale of $10-$20. All extra funds raised above cost will go to the 1494 Land Back Lane legal defense :) any calendars left over will be donated to imprisoned people at GVI. Local pickup preferred but if you need it mailed we can arrange that! Email or DM me if you're interested.

The timing worked out that I needed to pop in a new batch of paper, so I thought I'd film a quick video showing you how it's done. The Oriole Journal Cover does not ship with any paper inside -- it's fully customizable, so add blank paper, lined, dot-grid like I have here, or GOOS (good on one side) sheets from your office recycle bin! I had dot-grid paper in last time too, but this time I'm going to set it up as a real #bulletjournal! I especially like the index idea -- I ma...ke so many different lists and they just get lost. An update-as-you-go index is genius. Wow. I've been making/using/stumbling through my own blank journals for years, I cannot believe it's taken this long to give ye olde BuJo method a try. Aaaaanyway... How to (in words!) Gather as many sheets of paper as you need (10-15 sheets is good, anything goes but more means that the signature will be bulky!) Fold all the pages in half. Now your bundle, in bookbinding terms, is called a signature! Punch holes at the top and bottom of your signature, at the spine (fold) that line up with the holes in your journal cover. A single-hole punch works great for this, though... you can also take my route of using a drill press! Thread your leather strap through all pages of your new notebook and tie off with the method of your choice. If the strap is too loose/tight -- adjust it til it's to your liking! This one is mine, but you can browse the Orioles I have for sale via my website: beyondrepair519.ca . . . #kwawesome #kwartist #makersforclimate #makersgonnamake #bulletjournalideas #bulletjournalinspiration #bulletjournalist #newbulletjournal #repairculture #upcycledstyle

To my surprise, Forest Green has been the most popular colour for my Robin Cyclist Earmuffs this is the last pair and I'm sending it out as this post uploads, but there are other colours still available on my website! Check it out! (And if you missed my awkward, long, rambling demo explaining what these are for - it's in my IGTV) For the DIY-minded who need another project on THEIR list, it is on my list to add these to my shop as a downloadable pattern as well

I missed yesterday's "Mending before Breakfast" thanks to a killer headache that kept me in bed until what might normally be considered after lunch >.< but instead I can catch up with sharing other content I have recorded but somehow never posted! I created this demo for my Robin Cyclist Earmuffs to share their glory with folks who have never had the opportunity to see them in person. Sometimes I get self-conscious that so many of my creations require a backstory. It's not al...ways as obvious what something I've made is for as it is with, say, a necklace or a mug. That's ok! It maybe just gets weird for me when I have you trapped at my merch table and I'm rambling on about how cool winter cycling is and all you want to do actually is go check out the dog collars at the next table. But here's a video you can browse on your own time and share with anyone else you know who could use a little treat to make their wintertime bicycle adventures a little more cozy. These earmuffs are made from 100% wool upcycled sweaters and fit over your helmet straps, keeping your ears warm without the need to wear bulky hats or headbands under your helmet :) find 'em for sale in limited quantities/colours (based on the material I have on hand) on my website, beyondrepair519.ca https://beyondrepair519.ca//wear/products/cyclist-earmuffs As always, if you're local you can arrange to pick up your order for free and save the cost of shipping :) . . . #makersforclimate #kwawesome #upcycledstyle #wintercycling #winterbiking #keeponcycling #repairculture #usewhatyagot

IT BEGINS! I'm calling a "done is better than perfect" on this and finally have an official, YouTube start to my MENDING BEFORE BREAKFAST challenge. Do you like my analog title card? For 30 days I am going to be ...well... starting my day with some mending, as you can tell from the title. I'm following in the footsteps of my friend @sundropsstudio who just completed her own 30 day challenge (go see it, and subscribe to her channel!!) to say that my 30 days may not be in a r...ow, but there will be 30. I have some fun projects lined up, even though this first video was a rocky start. Judge away, I'm learning a new thing! Videos?? Hmm. Expect some real-time mends, some awkward silences, some candid life updates no one asked for, some mending tips, some imperfect manicures, and definitely some minimal video editing - hello, I'm planning to do 30 of these, I'm trying to set myself up for reality here so no promises on polished work. I'd love to cut out the edits altogether and go straight to live like my other irl-youtuber friend @leeangold, but unfortunately until I have 1000 subscribers on YouTube I cannot go live from mobile. (So please subscribe!!) Series premiere is up now! Upcoming #MendingBeforeBreakfast videos will be released at 8am EST each day, the day after they happen of course. Set your watch to it! Set your mending pile to it! And if you join in, or even just pick up a mend here and there inspired by my series, use the tag #MendingBeforeBreakfast so that I can see what you're up to, too! . . . #mending #visiblemending #repairculture #reprisagevisible #makersforclimate #invisiblemending #darning #mendingchallenge #mendingmayhem #kwawesome #kwartists #dtklove
