Happy to share my journey with Canadian Franchise Magazine! Beyond the Classroom gives me the opportunity to support families, teach kids, and keep developing. So happy with my chosen path!

For parents of teenagers - this is quite interesting!

Sometimes we have to let our kids fall and pick themselves back up - Knowing when to let this happen is key to building resiliency.

It may be a tighter grip on the pencil, a scrunched up face or an increase in fidgeting. When I am working with a student and I see inklings of frustration I know it's time to pivot. First, I ask myself what is frustrating my student? Is the task at hand too challenging? Does it need to be broken down into smaller steps? Are they distracted by other things? Second, I check in with my student. How are you feeling about this activity? Is it a little overwhelming? What...'s happening in your brain right now? Would it be easier if we....? This conversation validates the emotions my student is feeling. Third, I pivot. Depending on the situation, I may change to a new activity, approach the lesson from a new angle, break down the steps, or alter the amount of required work. There are many ways to change it up and reengage. I feel the key to working with my students is knowing when to push and when to back off. I'd like to know your thoughts on this.
