This week at Virtual Summer Camp our theme is Space Exploration! We are having a great time exploring the universe and learning new things, while we take virtual trips of NASA, learn to draw rocket ships, look a stars, imagine what it would be like to live on the Moon and so much more! Campers are given Daily STEM challenges created to increase their knowledge and introduce them to the world of science, technology and engineering! Hello everyone! Because my video didn’t upload yesterday, let’s try it again! Going with this weeks theme of Outdoor Adventure I made my own binoculars!! Materials needed: - toilet paper rolls - paint ... - hole punch - glue - string Directions: 1. Paint the toilet paper rolls the colour you’d like. Let dry. 2. Once dry, use the hole punch to punch holes on either sides. 3. Glue toilet paper rolls together. 4. Use the string to knot in each hole. 5. Glue cotton balls onto your paper plate. Enough to fill the full plate. 2. Use blue construction paper for two eyes. Glue onto your yeti. 3. Cut a nose a mouth out of red construction paper. Glue onto your yeti. 4. Trace and cut arms and legs out of brown construction paper. 5. Good afternoon! Going with today’s theme of Camping, I made popsicle stick s’mores! Materials: - popsicle sticks - hot glue gun ... - white glue - white paint - off-white construction paper - brown construction paper - markers - scissors Directions: 1. Glue about 5-7 popsicle sticks together. Let dry. 2. Paint popsicle sticks white. Let dry. 3. Cut two small pieces of tan construction paper. Glue on the top and bottom of the popsicle stick marshmallow. 4. Cut a small piece of brown construction paper as your chocolate. Glue just above the other piece of construction paper. Let dry. 5. Hello everyone! Another dinosaur creation - I give you, a Toilet Paper Roll Dinosaur! Materials needed: - Large paper plate - Scissors... - Pencil - Glue - Toilet roll - paint - Paint brush - Googly Eyes Directions: 1. Fold a large paper plate in half, and cut into 2 to create the ‘shell’ of your dinosaur. 2. Take one half of the plate and draw and cut a head, a tail and triangular spikes in whatever shapes you fancy. Glue these to the second half of the plate to start to create the template for your dinosaur. 3. To make the feet, measure and cut a toilet roll into 3. Take 2 pieces and cut slits in the top on opposite sides. Insert the dinosaur’s body onto the feet so it’s stable and can stand. 4. Paint the dinosaur with your chosen colour of paint and leave to dry this could take a few hours. 5. Add a googly eye to the dinosaur’s head to give yours some character and a face with personality. Good afternoon! Going with this weeks theme of ‘Dino Dayz’ I made Salt Dough Fossils! Materials: - 2 cups flour - 1 cup of salt ... - 1/2 cup warm water - spoon - plastic dinosaurs Directions: 1. Mix the flour, salt, and warm water together to make the salt dough. 2. Make a small ball of dough, then press it flat with the palm of your hand. 3. Gently press a dinosaur skeleton toy into the dough. Gently lift the toy up to reveal a cool impression! 4. Line up all your fossils on a baking sheet and bake on 250 degrees for 1-2 hours. Materials needed: - cardboard - black marker ... - scissors - glue - tissue paper - googly eyes Directions: 1. Trace a dinosaur into your cardboard piece. Use your scissors to cut it out. 2. Cut tissue paper into small square pieces. 3. Ball up tissue paper. Glue onto dinosaur. 4. Continue adding tissue paper until it is covered! 5. Glue on the googly eye. Your Dino is constructed! Good afternoon everyone! Going with today’s theme I made, MICKEY MOUSE BUBBLE ART! Materials needed: - Small bowls - Warm water... - Food coloring - Non-toxic dish soap - straws - Blank paper -Scissors -Pencil Directions: 1. Fill a bowl about half way with warm water. Add about 10-15 drops of food coloring. 2. Add about a teaspoon of dish soap. Start with a small amount, and if you want more bubbles, add a little more dish soap. Gently stir the soap and food coloring together. 3. Use a straw to blow into the bowl to make bubbles. Blow into the water until the bubbles are taller than the edge of the bowl. 4. Gently press the paper onto the bubbles. It may take a few tries (and a bit more food coloring) to get the bubbles to transfer to the paper. Let the paper dry completely. 5. Draw and cut out Mickey Mouse face outline. 6. Trace outline onto your paper. Cut out. Happy creating #virtualsummercamp2020 #bluejayscommunity #BGC

This weeks theme for Virtual Summer Camp is Disney Days! Want not bring the taste of Disney home with this Disney Dole Whip Recipe, straight from the Magic Kingdom! So easy and so delicious! Ingredients:(makes 1 serving)... 1 big scoop of vanilla ice cream 4 oz pineapple juice 2 cups of frozen pineapple Directions: STEP ONE: Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. The Dole Whip should have a thick and creamy consistency. STEP TWO: Using an icing piping bag or Ziploc bag with a corner trimmed off, pipe your Dole Whip in a swirl into a cup. STEP THREE: Enjoy while watching your fave Disney Movie!

Materials needed: - hot glue gun - paper plate ... - tin foil - popsicle stick - coloured construction paper - scissors - sequins Directions: 1. Cut the rim off the paper plate. 2. Cut a circle in the tin foil. Glue it to the center of your plate. 3. Once dried, glue your popsicle stick to the bottom of your mirror, 4. Cut construction paper into hearts. Materials: - tin foil - black paint ... - 1 big paint brush - 1 small paint brush Directions: 1. Tear off a rectangular piece of foil. 2. Add a thin layer of black paint to the foil with the big paint brush. Let dry completely. 3. Using the bottom end of the small paint brush, scratch away the paint to create your design!
