Renovations all around the club are really coming together and looking sharp! Admittedly, the room we were most excited to see get a ‘facelift’ was our little office. Keep swiping to see the before
One more great ‘Movement Monday’ stretch for you to try this morning! Naomi is demonstrating a great way to gently stretch your hip flexors (the front of your hip). Try holding the stretch for 30 seconds each side after activity. Or, use this stretch as part of a dynamic warm-up by gently holding it for 3-5 seconds, returning to neutral, and going back into it for another 3-5 seconds, repeat 5-10 times per side.
Shout out to all the Banker’s Hall Club clients that competed in the Spartan Races in Kimberley this weekend. We saw you looking fierce!! Special congrats to Alex Loach for snagging 1st in the open division at his first ever beast. We know he has his post-race treatments booked, do you?
Movement Monday time! We hope you have been enjoying this series as much as we have! Here’s a handy little stretch to get that pesky upper hamstring area. Make sure to keep your hips squared up with the chair and toes straight up to the ceiling.
Movement Monday: maybe with all that stampeding, you just need a niiice lay-down stretch to start off your week. Give this stretch a try to target your glutes, low back, and even some chest. Go into the stretch nice and slow, and hold for 30 seconds each side.

It’s time again for Movement Monday! Here Courtney is doing a great warm-up or stand alone exercise to improve thoracic mobility (movement of your upper back). Stiffness in the thoracic region can lead to creating excessive movement in our low back (lumbar spine) or at the shoulders which could create injury. Stay ahead by trying out this exercise for 10-15/side. Focus on rotating so that your chest faces the wall; make sure to keep your stable shoulder directly over the hand, so that you aren’t swaying your upper body to create the movement. Try it out and come see us if you have any questions!
We are LOVING the feedback on our Movement Monday series! Keep those questions coming! This week we move into the shoulder region: this exercise will help with shoulder and thoracic mobility, opening up that tight upper body after spending a day at your desk! Lay on your side with your hips and knees bent to 90 degrees, in the first part of this movement reach your arm forward or protract your shoulder blade, maintain that position as you reach up, when you reach 90 degrees with the arm you will retract or bring that shoulder back in close as you complete the stretch back towards the wall behind you. Keep the movement controlled, it’s harder than it looks! Give it a try and come see us if you have any questions!
Movement Monday: rounding out our series of glute activation exercises, here is a more advanced one to try! Terminal knee extensions: great to do before squats to wake up and engage those glute muscles so that you use them to their fullest during your workout. With an anchored band behind your knee, focus on using your glute (bum) and hamstring (back of the leg) to straighten into the resistance. Try not to use your quadriceps (front of the leg) to achieve this motion! Give it a shot, and come see us if you have any questions!
Beautiful photos from @iamhendy getting us through this first full week back to work...
First Feature Friday of the year kicks off with an introduction to Russ McLean! Russ has been a fixture at the club for many years and for good reason! He brings his talent to the club on the weekends, but you can often find him for a good chat in the gym throughout the week as well. Russ recently completed his certification for cupping and we are excited to see how this technique creates lasting results and even more effective treatments! Russ is an athlete, dad, husband, cook and amazing RMT; come meet him soon!
Happy New Year everyone! Hoping you all had a restful holiday season. We are back in action for 2019! See you soon! @iamhendy
In her natural habitat.
More office space photos of Courtney’s travels with the National Speed Skating Team. Being versatile and able to provide treatment in any environment is key when on the road.
Courtney’s office looks a liiiiittle different when she is away!
When Courtney Loach isn’t at Banker’s Hall Club you can find her flying around working with some of our National Athletes at their international competitions. Any guesses where she is off to today or what sport she is working with?!
Chris Sitter is our Jack of All Trades for 2018 as he provides massage therapy, acupuncture AND dry needling here at the club. He’s a great resource to have around and a wealth of knowledge for his patients! Here he is pictured in another skill of his: Capoeira, but he promises not to try any of that during your appointment!
Russ! This weekend I was honoured to present the Loyalty Award to Russ, as he has the highest client retention... and for good reason! His dedication to his clients and the club make him irreplaceable. Russ is only available on weekends, so book early to get a spot! #lochnessmonster
Naomi Diehl received an award for her dedication and passion towards continuing to learn and grow in her career. This Education Go-Getter will be one of the first in Calgary to complete the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification and we could not be more proud to have her on our team. Her vast knowledge for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and Sports Acupuncture continuously blows us all away. She also happens to give the best running advice :)
This weekend Brittany Dezall took home the Best Remedial Care award. This is an award for giving her patients homework to help them help themselves! Doing your stretches or exercises that your therapist suggests can help prolong the effects of your treatment. Britt is usually only in the club Friday-Sunday, but during December you can catch her for an appointment on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings as well!! #fearless
