UPDATE from Bishop Michael Dear Friends and Family I am so grateful for all the care and prayer you have poured out on me and for me and my family. Words fail... me but tears flow in deepest gratitude for your kindness. Thanks be to God and by the mediation of your prayers I am on a journey of healing and recovery. The past four months have been the most profound experience and assurance of the real power of prayer in my life. That healing has not just to do with Covid and its effects but is emotional, spiritual, and mental. Thank you. I am also grateful to Archdeacon Hoskin for acting as my Commissary, to Barb Wirsta, my secretary and to our clergy and lay readers, who have given me space over this very long leave and recovery. There remains damage from Covid in my heart and in my brain but my strength, speech, memory, and balance are very much improved. The hope is that the damage will not worsen and that there will be a near total recovery. I am booked for a follow up MRI on my brain on Palm Sunday and will have a further test on my heart in late Spring. I have received remarkably competent, thorough, humble, and compassionate medical care for four months. The internist has kept me off work and forbidden me to drive until March 22nd and my family physician has asked that I not go back to work until after my MRI and then to return to work gradually. I hope to slowly start working from home and easing back into full time duties at the end of March. The past four months have been difficult for me. The past year has been challenging and hard for everyone, and especially for our health care workers, for our seniors, the vulnerable, and those who live alone, and particularly for those who have buried friends and family. While we remember all who have died from Covid and their families, we also remember all those who have died in the past year and those whose mourning and healing has been delayed and complicated by this pandemic. There was much grass in the place. This is my favorite picture of the heavenly banquet, a glorious extended family picnic on a lush grassy hill. I look forward to that family reunion and feast and to all the blessed foretastes and assurances of it that I will share with you. Love and Prayers Michael See more
