Change in Small Claims Court, as of January 1, 2020, the Small Claims monetary jurisdiction will increase from $25,000.00 to a maximum of $35,000.00. This change by the Ministry of Attorney General of Ontario is a great step forward to justice. Litigants who started a claim in Superior Court will be permitted to transfer their cases to Small Claims if it falls within the $35,000.00 threshold. These changes will cut down wait times in courtrooms, and give parties more cost efficient representation options such as hiring a paralegal. Bianchi Paralegal Services would be more than happy to assist in these Small Claims Court matters.

Hopefully these new changes come into effect for landlords. Best change would be the change of standard order wait times for eviction from 6 days as opposed to the 11 days standard order.
