One of our focuses at BPEI is long-term athlete development. So when we read the following advice for being mindful guardians to developing athletes, it really hit home. "Focus on the joy in learning and developing and not to become too fixated on short-term results...Emphasize process and performance over winning so that sports does not become an ‘outcome-focused enterprise.’ The only path to long-term success in sports is to allow kids the freedom to learn to love playing the game on their own terms. Do COVID limitations have you missing that competitive experience this year? Well you can still compete from here on PEI! Nordiq Canada and Biathlon Canada have extended a Distance Challenge open to all members. Beginning January 11 and running until February 28, 2021, participants simply register online (Zone4 link below) and upload their kilometers to begin competing for draw prizes. Awards will be made in Week 3, 5, and 7, with the final prize of a Swix Canada Fluoro-Free ...wax gift basket being awarded after February 28. Good luck to all participating members! Better late than never- skiers, start tracking your distances! Nordiq Canada and Biathlon Canada have teamed up to challenge members to be the top distance skier this winter. Starting last week and running until the end of February, skiers can sign up to log their skied kilometers and compete for prizes. Awards will be made in weeks 3, 5 and 7, with the overall champion winning a Fluoro-Free wax gift basket from Swix Canada after February 28. It's not too late to start! Parti...cipants can register through Zone4: https://next.zone4.ca/challenge/2021/nordicdistance/ Additional Details: Throughout the Challenge there will be leaderboards to track your ranking by age, gender and total overall accumulation. Participants can upload from their preferred GPS tracking devices directly to the Zone4 site where their daily, weekly or monthly totals will accumulate. It is possible to manually enter distances skied on your honour but to be eligible for prizing the distances must be verified by a GPS device.
