The Bristol Library will open again this Saturday, June 6th at 9:00 a.m. As per the BIBLIO guidelines this will be contactless service. To check out books, you will call in your book order to 819-647-5555, ext 4. You can also email your order to: [email protected] Library staff will select your books and call you with a time for pick up when your book order is ready. Books will be placed on a table by the door for contactless pick up. Returned books will be placed in quarantine for 72 hours before being placed back on the shelves. To facilitate choosing books, you can search for books by library, title or author on the free BookMyne app. I realize that this is not ideal, but given the COVID circumstances it is what we are required to work with. It is a step in the right direction.

The Quebec government announced today that libraries can open May 29th. Phase 1 of the opening allows for ‘contactless’ service. Monday, I will speak to staff at the municipal office to ensure we have all the necessary safety measures in place for our opening. I will then post further information regarding the opening procedures and will confirm our opening date. Looking forward to seeing you at the library.

The following is an excerpt from an email I received today from Reseau Biblio de l’Outaouais. A glimmer of hope for the opening of libraries in Quebec. The Legault government anticipates a "soft" recovery in the cultural sector and believes that it is "likely" that the public health department will authorize the opening of libraries and museums in June. Of course, we will have to wait for the confirmation of this news by the Public Health of Quebec.... I have also had discussions with BIBLIO staff who have informed me that libraries will be opened in 4 stages. The first stage will be ‘contactless’ service. Library users will call in an order for books. Once the book order has been filled, an appointment for pick up will be arranged. To this end you can download the free BookMyne app. This enables you to search for books by library. Returned books will be quarantined for 72 hours before being placed back on the shelves. BIBLIO has requested that we close the book drop for the time being. Books checked out prior to the closure of libraries have been automatically renewed to June 30th and any fines incurred have been forgiven. Library cards which expired during COVID-19 closure have been automatically renewed. I will post further details re the opening of the Bristol library as they become available.

BRISTOL LIBRARY The Premier of Quebec has directed the closure of all public libraries. Therefore, the Bristol Library is now closed. At this time we do not know how long the closure will last.
