One broken tooth on a band-saw can cause a lot of damage. The pic is a little blurry, but you can see the block of mahogany that was chewed up as well as the mangled plate that needs to be replaced. The blade is ruined too but at least I still have all of my fingers!! Always be extremely careful when working with tools and make sure all cutting edges are sharp.

More adjustments were needed to finish stabilizing this Baby Bass. The Tailpiece was cut down and re-tapped, a metal guard was fabricated (both done by owner Diego Bravo seen in final picture), hardware repainted, bridged ground down and reslotted, and then setup with new lower tension strings. Rubber pads were attached to the block of wood that was inserted to re-angle the tailpiece which allowed the peg to be aligned with the body. All kinds of custom work for a custom instrument!!

This is an electric upright bass based on an Ampeg design that needed some structural support repairs. The string tension had too much downward pressure and was causing the top to cave in and the bottom bout to crack and twist. A few support plates, sound posts and a new end block were able to bring it back to life.

The Elmira Vintage Guitar Show was a big success. I met a number of the attendees, talked about guitars and was able to see the huge variety of instruments from all the other vendors. It was very busy and lots of fun, especially if you love guitars like I do!!
