We absolutely love Toronto Nature School's approach with their outdoor environment for learning and exploring with their kindergarten class. The students and teachers gather each morning at Toronto Nature School and discuss a topic relating to the season that they’re currently in, they then go outdoors to learn more about the topic of discussion. For example, in colder seasons the birds begin to migrate, so they go with their students to watch and learn about the migration of... birds in person. How wonderful is that? To learn about specific topics and see examples of this right in front of your eyes in an outdoor environment is the way we should consider shifting most educational curriculum for children. These are lessons they will not only learn better in an outdoor setting, but one that they’ll always remember because they were able to see it happen, not just read about it inside a classroom with no true in-person experience. If you look at the superspreader events that have occurred, they’re almost always inside. New York City announced a plan to use yards and nearby parks for outdoor learning. In Chicago, heading outside isn’t unprecedented; a tuberculosis outbreak in 1909 led to open air schools."
