A great story, and one to remind us that building community is not so easily done through social media. Love the cycle tracks though...

I disagree with Council's assertion that they make the arts and culture of our City. The "Entertainment District" is simply an area where Council will pour hundreds of millions of dollars and hope for something to spark. Through my experiences, it is the citizens of a city who create districts of arts and culture (entertainment) and NOT the government. What Council is proposing is to simply appropriate money from other areas of Calgary which could be used for improved infrastructure. What The City will create is an area of gentrification. It is Council's job to remove the bureaucratic barriers for its citizens which in turn creates an environment of ownership and empowerment which then creates the arts and culture districts. #NEpride David Winkler for Ward 10 http://www.metronews.ca//city-of-calgary-unfunded-infrastr

This action from The City is infuriating! As a member of many planning engagements (including the Greenline Developers Advisory Group) with The City, I have seen this time and time again. In this case the community of Ramsay came to an agreement with The City last year, and at the last minute, The City is attempting to change the agreement. This tactic from The City only creates anger, distrust, disengagement, and lost tax dollars. This leads to more stress, thousands of wa...sted volunteer hours, and increases in our taxes. I am truly disheartened by this seemingly standard approach. The toying with engagement has to stop. For whatever excuses The City has, they need change their course, and start to un-silo their decision making and be more thoughtful and sincere in their discussions with Calgarians. There is an election this October 16, and it is part of my platform to implement changes of our civic engagement process. #NEpride YYCTransitPeople Ramsay Community Association in Calgary Ward NineTeam I LOVE CALGARY #yyctransit David Winkler for Ward 10
