Happy Throwback Thursday! Around this time last year, we were all together for our annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake! We sure miss all of our supporters and participants and look forward to doing this event again in the future. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is an important event that supports so many of our amazing programs throughout the year. Though we can’t gather in bowling alleys in the near future, we have something exciting around the corner to replace our flagship event. Our next Go Girls group starts on Thursday, March 11th! If you’re looking for something fun and exciting for your daughter to take part in after school, this could be the answer. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara Falls and Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Niagara are offering the Go Girls program virtually! Go Girls! is a fantastic mentoring program for girls in grades 6-8. The program takes place once a week for an hour over the course of 7 weeks and focuses on core topic...s such as active living, balanced eating, and feeling good about oneself! Through the use of games, activities, journaling, and discussions, Go Girls! Virtual is a great way for girls to build new connections during this time of physical distancing. A special shout out and thank you to #UnitedWayNiagara for providing the funding for this program. This program is open to any girls (grade 6-8) who live in Niagara Falls, Welland, Pelham, Port Colborne, Wainfleet, and Greater Fort Erie. See the dates and registration link below. Meet our new Community Engagement Developer, Kaitlyn! Some of you may already know Kaitlyn as she has been with BBBS for over three and a half years, previously as a case worker focusing on our Site Based Mentoring Programs. Kaitlyn has recently stepped into the Community Engagement Developer role and is excited to get to know you! If you are interested in getting involved with the agency as a sponsor or volunteer, get in touch with Kaitlyn! This position is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
