Big Curve Acres Farm 18.11.2020

Great growing season for this area in 2020. Pastures are still green and lush. Thank goodness as so many horses didn't leave for work this summer. Our Hay is all safely stored and ready for winter feeding! Hopefully our horses will be able to earn their keep in 2021. Stay safe!!

Horses will lay down to sleep, especially foals. When they feel safe and the sun is shining, they often lay flat. Parents are always near by. We get many phone calls about dead horses in field and other horses standing around crying.... I hate having to wake them up..they jump with surprise!

Lazy Bucks. Did not work with Santa this summer. Full Velvet now and about to start peeling off to go into Rut. We always thought they got so fat from hand feeding at Santa's Village, but apparently just packing it on for Rut season!

We have bred Quarter horses for over 40 years now. Our Buckskin stallion with his band of mares and all filly foals. August is Fly month and wow are they bad. Went out to pasture to apply fly wipe...some of the babies have learned moms tail is an excellent fly swatter!

Today I had some time to sit and observe some animals. They are missing the interaction with the public that usually keeps them busy in the summer. Lets hope this Pandemic is over sooner than later!

Closed to the public this season means the animals are looking to me for visit with them. Harry went out back last night looking new pasture. His new coat is already starting to grow. He does look like the missing link of dinosaur.

HARRY ate the leaves first then used branches to scratch between humps. Very smart.

Horses that should be working but are enjoying fields instead.

HARRY, HARRY, not quite so Hairy... Shedding all his winter woolies. A Mongolian Camel like him can take the winter, but hot days like this he spends in the cool of the Arena.
