One of the reasons we install concealed fastners steel roofing. Wet heavy snow on a regular steel roof with exposed fastners will hold this snow for days, adding weight to the house and eventually could lead to leaks around all the screw heads. Concealed fastner type roofing allows the snow to glide off easily. Of course we do install snow breakers over doors where needed, but letting the rest of the roof clear off just makes sense.

Finally finished the final details in this kitchen yesterday! From concept to design to installation, we worked hard to make sure this space was going to work for our clients. Renovating an old house comes with lots of challenges, but we love how well this all turned out and are so thankful our clients were so patient while it all happened.

On to the next tile project! 2ft X 2ft porcelain tile are heavy! LOL! This shower is going to be one beauty when it is done tho

This railing could not have turned out more perfectly! The 5" knewl post and box railing look so nice in this space with the wavy metal balusters. It was a bit of a pain to install but it was so worth it in the end!

Our most recent tile job! Love it when a client agrees to let me do something different from the normal pattern! And totally proud of Kelsey, learning to do tile with me and doing a fantastic job! Supporting apprentices and teaching them to do more than just carpentry is key to building on their skills and make them better all around trades people.

This unique house on White Head Island has been a part of our lives for 2.5 years now. We didn't spend 100% of our time on it, the total work days put into this job was 297 days (not including the days subtrades were there and we were not). The architecture and details in this house are incredible as well as challenging. Best thing ever when it's all over? When the client says to you, "it feels like home"

Well the flying bathtub has finally landed! And it has a pretty relaxing view as well! It took some wiggling to get this 450 lbs cast iron tub into place but here it is! Big thank you to Adam Morrell for the plumbing installation on this entire house. This tub was not his only challenge here! And this final piece of the puzzle means this bathroom is done! More pics of this project to come!

Sometimes installing a cast iron tub is not as straight forward as you may think. Second floor bathroom has reinforced engineered floor joists to carry the massive weight of this tub, water and person. The only way it was going in now that the house is almost finished is via boom truck and then rolled in through a door on pipes and styrofoam. Part 2 will be having the plumber install the drain and then we will put the tub into it's finally place. Thank you to John Sullivan for the help!

It's been a cold, windy, icy winter and I have not been good at keeping up on the posts on here! We have lots on the go including this sweet little cottage. And we recently got someone back who is a huge asset to have on our crew (hint:he's in the photo!)! Spring is just around the corner and we are super excited for the up coming spring and summer seasons! We have lots of great clients to work for this year and we are pumped up to get going.....winter needs to go now!

Update pic of White Head to show the exterior layers.....we will start at the studs 1. Plywood sheathing 2. Henry VP160 (breathable waterproof membrane) 3. Cladmate styrofoam 3. Tyvek air barrier 4. Homeslicker cedar breather 5. Cedar shingles. All of the products work together if installed properly to keep water out of the home's envelope but they will also allow water and moisture to escape the wall system if it does get it somehow (cause driving sideways rain can do funny things!). Allowing the exterior wall to "breath" is very important to keeping them dry and preventing wall rot!

NEWS ALERT! Collin has passed his 3rd block!

Happy Setting Day to all of our friends, neighbors, clients and employees! We wish you all a safe and prosperous journey as you start the 17-18 season!

We have preferred to use Roxul insulation for years. It is moisture resistent, fire retardant, insect and rodent resistant, has soundproofing qualities and has a better R-value than traditional fiberglass insulation. It is really neat to see how it is made!

Always happy to recycle materials and so glad to have the results of our time to save it from a landfill turn out like this!

We want to wish Collin all the best of luck as he leaves us to continue his apprenticeship and complete his block 3 and 4 courses over the fall and winter months. Although you have a lifetime of learning ahead of you, we hope we have helped to give to the best start possible on your path to becoming a Red Seal Carpenter. You are smart and capable of doing whatever you put your mind too! We look forward to having you back with us again in 2018!

Everyone is excited about White Head! Here's a sneak peak at this amazing house!

It always amazes us as to how a little bit of change to flooring, wall color, countertop and hardware can really make a huge difference in the look of a kitchen! There was not a lot of work or money that went into this kitchen or bathroom and WOW, what a difference! And just so you all know, the shower is not real tile! Looks like it! Congrats to our clients on their new beautiful home, you guys make it warm and inviting for everyone and we enjoy working with you so much!

Check out this cool laser painted garage door from Alden's Shutters and Doors in Fredericton. They can do any image you want pretty much on the inside of your garage doors! Really adds a sweet touch to the man cave!

Another beautiful backsplash complete (finally, haha). We have been doing work in this home since January, bathrooms and small kitchen reno are finally all done! We are always so blessed to have clients who understand what it takes to get things like this project done, it takes some time and patienece by everyone, but in the end it is always worth it!

Well after 6 weeks at school and almost a week waiting for the results, we can finally say CONGRATS to Collin for passing his Block 2 Carpentry exam! We knew you could do it, and no doubt you will continue to leave your mark on this world and on this island through your exemptary work....just like you did at this job! (LOL) Here's to moving forward with you bud and on to Block 3!

Beautiful Ceasar Stone Quartz (color is Atlantic Salt) recently installed at a client's house on Grand Manan. Quartz is a solid surface countertop that can upgrade a kitchen in the blink of an eye, it's super durable, requires very little maintenance, and will last for years to come. Recently many quartz tops have become available at a price point that is less than granite, which gives people more options when it comes to deciding what they want! And our supplier is more than happy to come to the island at no extra charge!

Over the last couple months we have done some work to this house to make it more what the owner wants and to make it more functional for them and their busy life! New custom cabinetry in the entryway, moved the laundry into a closet closer to the bedrooms, new floors, a whole new fireplace wall and the most beautiful entry door! Awesome clients to say the least, we so enjoyed these renos with them and can't wait to continue in the future!

We are back to work on Tuesday to start another fantastic year of projects! We have some pretty awesome tasks to complete that will surely wow everyone (and promises to be better at posting pics of our work!). The year ahead holds a lot of good things for us and our crew, and especially our clients!
