Looking for nucs or packages? For 2019 I will be getting packages from New Zealand (Carnolians) in the spring early to mid April. A little about the packages... They are really calm bees that are decent honey producers. They work really nice here on the island because they brood down nice and small in the fall and usually have lots of honey stores saved for the winter. In the spring they explode very quickly so having rooms for them is crucial. Over all they are very nice bee...s and the packages are great for getting going early in the spring. To find out more about avabiblity and pricing please email me at [email protected] The Nucs, The nucs are a 4 frame hive that comes in a special cardboard box. It will have a Queen that is already laying and honey and brood and pollen and of course bees. All of these nucs will be inspected by the bee inspector and will be approved for sale. These bees will be a mix between some of my Italian bees and the New Zealand carnolians. So pretty crazy what farmers are having to do this spring. This helicopter is fertilizing the fields. It can hold 400 kg in its hopper. Luckily my father did an amazing job of preparing our fields, tile drained and dryer than most fields. But even still we have only been able to plant a very small amount of our sweet corn for the community so far. Hopefully we get some dry and sunny weather. #farmlife #foreverwinter #sunnyday

Hey guys so I thought I would just give you some basic information on how bees harvest there food. I love the @cvfarmersmarket because I can teach people about bees and honey. But not everyone on here can visit me there so I thought I would share. So honey bees live for about 2 weeks during the summer harvesting months. They can live much longer but what happens is these ladies work so hard that their little wings start to break down and the bodies. They can visit up to 5000 ...flowers per day and make 1 tbsp of honey in their life time. As bees visit the flowers they have special combs on their legs that rake the flowers and collect the pollen, they use this to feed their babies. They also will collect nectar from the flowers which they store in a separate honey stomach which they then transfer to a bee in the hive to be turned into honey. Hope you enjoyed! See more
