I can't count how many people have said to me lately that their skin is breaking out or becoming irritated because of their mask... there's even a new name for it: "Maskne." Well here's what's happening: the friction from the mask is creating tiny fissures on our skin's surface, ever so slightly damaging the natural barrier of skin cells making it feel irritated and sensitive. Then, the bacteria and humidity from our mouths gets stuck in those tiny fissures. This creates a b...reeding ground for acne. Not to mention that sweat, oil and dirt and makeup are being pushed in to our pores because they have nowhere else to go. This is definitely a recipe for skin irritations and breakouts. But I have a solution! I've developed a mini-treatment that I'm calling the "Skin Recovery Treatment," (which, by the way, is a fantastic refresh for your skin even if you are one of the lucky ones who isn't breaking out). Here's what's included: We'll start by cleansing the face with a mild, anti-bacterial cleanser which will soothe the skin and won't dry it out. Then we'll use a gentle Enzyme Peel to exfoliate the dry, flaky dead cells without causing further irritation. Once those cells are exfoliated, pores are able to release any buildup of oil and debris which helps clear up acne, blackheads and enlarged pores. We'll then apply a Skin Recovery Serum that reduces redness and inflammation and promotes cell repair and renewal. Basically we'll help your skin to seal up those tiny fissures. To finish off, we'll do a Deep Hydration mask that will help to rebalance the moisture in the skin, making it feel soothed, soft and quenched.
