Today we launched an outdoor campaign to help save BC's old-growth forests and the black bears that live in them. Old growth forests have ancient tree structures that are black bears’ preferred habitats. When we log old-growth forests, we take the bears with them - and much of that lumber is being shipped overseas to make cheap furniture. British Columbia has only deferred logging in 3,800 hectares of unprotected, old-growth forests, leaving the other 99% in threat of being c...ut down. We worked with @123w.ca @livingforestinstitute and The Only Animal to raise awareness and show people the real result of logging old-growth trees. If you want to help save our old-growth forests and black bears - sign the petition in the bio link Photographer: Bill Hawley Creative Retoucher: Kathleen Loski Art Director: John Larigakis Copywriter: Addie Gillespie Creative Director: Bryan Collins Creative Director: Rob Sweetman Producer: Natasha Lakhani

This is a special one so BEAR with me. @jsied came to me and said she was doing a forest walk with @theonlyanimaltheatre to try to come up with ways to save it from logging. She got me in for the next walk. I walked through the Dakota Bear Sanctuary and knew that something had to be done to save this incredible ecosystem with some of the oldest trees in Canada. I quickly reached out to @larigakis to ask him if he would like to help come up with a concept for a TSA campaign. H...e not only jumped on board but he brought @addiearielle and the rest of @123w.ca along with him. Over the next few months we all worked together to make this incredible project come to life. I will be forever grateful to this team of @kloski232 for her tireless amount of retouching and rebuilding to combine the furniture with the bears. @natkhatlakh for wrangling all of us creatives to make it all happen on time. Of course @larigakis and @addiearielle for all their incredible ideas and copy and so much more. And @theonlyanimaltheatre , @livingforestinstitute and @theartistbrigade for funding the whole thing and doing so much leg work to get the images to end up on transit shelters around Vancouver. Oh and @cityofvan for giving us transit shelters to give a voice to the message. Oh and Dakota Bear Sanctuary has been saved so now we press on to protect all old growth forests in BC! You’ll be able to see these images in the Applied Arts Awards annual! - Today we launched an outdoor campaign to help save BC's old-growth forests and the black bears that live in them.
