Dads Latest. For a fan in Seattle. What do you Seahawk fans think? Not done yet. But soon
Hunter of the Woods Mask carved by Bill Henderson from the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation. With the long weekend upon us, many of us will be heading into the woods to spe...nd time with family and friends hiking, camping and sharing stories. Bill Henderson shared the story and meaning behind his stunning ‘Hunter of the Woods Mask’ carved in red and yellow cedar: There once was a skilled Hunter who supplied venison and foods of the forest to his village. One year, the Hunter was unable to find any animals to hunt, as each time he went into the forest, the birds would chatter and warn the animals the hunter was approaching. When the village was close to starvation, the shaman told the Hunter to go to Raven and ask for help. That day, the Hunter went to Raven to ask if he could help save the village. Raven agreed, sat on the Hunter's head and accompanied him into the forest. When the birds saw Raven on the Hunter’s head, they were reassured, and didn’t feel that they had to chatter and warn the other animals. The Hunter was able to find prey and bring meat back to save the people of his village. https://spiritsofthewestcoast.com//hunter-of-the-woods-mask
