I was honored to run federally under Elizabeth's May leadership. She has conducted herself honorably and has been an inspiration to many Canadians who want politics done differently. Despite getting over 1.16 million votes, Greens were rewarded with 3 seats to the Blocs 32 seats with 1.37 million votes. That's simply a screwed up result under our current system and the blame for not correcting this imbalance lies squarely with the Liberals (and the Conservatives who also benefit greatly from the status quo)
"To those who say it can't be done: In 1900, there were no cars on the road. In 1913, there were no horses."
Soybean harvest continues near Killarney. Southwest MB needs another couple of weeks of warm and dry weather.
Student Vote is an excellent education tool. https://buff.ly/2JkNngC
This western alienation talk by AB premier Kenney and SK premier Moe is in itself divisive and doesn't take the historical popular vote into account. I put these graphs together to illustrate that AB in particular has reverted to party support levels in line with what they were under Harper in 2008. In SK, Liberals are back to where they were in 2011 under Harper. So where was this talk of western separation when the country had a conservative prime minister for 10 years? Perhaps it has more to do with partisanship than the facts on the ground?
Thanks to my campaign team for all your hard work and thanks to the 2933 voters who entrusted their vote to me this time around. This was an excellent learning opportunity and I plan to build on it for the next time (might be sooner than we think).
Congratulations to Larry Maguire who'll be heading back to Ottawa to represent the constituents of Brandon-Souris.
Please vote! More Green MPs in Parliament will mean a compassionate and effective transition to a better Canada and a better world for our kids and grandkids.
Another nonpartisan group weighs in on the party promises. Given only the Green Party has a strong democracy platform, hopefully all the parties will get serious after the election and work together to finally make the key changes needed to give Canadians the fully democratic and accountable federal government that many surveys over the past 15 years have shown a large majority of voters want, said Duff Conacher, Co-founder of Democracy Watch. https://buff.ly/2qq0tlW
There's a theme to these report cards and the Green platform is getting good reviews. This one from the Health Providers Against Poverty.
Game of Thrones ain't my thing but I echo this encouragement to Vote Stark!
A Green vote is a vote for integrity and an openness to work across party lines.
