With the Department of Biological Sciences' current chair, Dr. David Coltman, moving to a new position at Western University, the Department of Biological Sciences is looking for one undergraduate biological sciences student for the Chair Selection Committee. The BDSA has included the names of executives who are willing to fill this position; please take the time to vote for one of the execs through the google form in LINK IN BIO. We are launching the sustainability challenge week during reading week! The BSDA often focuses our efforts on giving students academic opportunities and social events. This year, we wanted to do more. In molecular biology, it is often easy to miss out on the bigger picture. Those of you that are in or took BIOL 108 and BIOL 208 would definitely understand how important it is to pay attention to our environment. While it is definitely difficult to pinpoint and say climate cha...nge is the causative agent of many of the natural and world events these last years, we cannot deny its growing impact, urging us to face it invariably. In sciences, we very much like to focus on the animals, landscape, ecological interactions, and microorganisms that we love so much. But it is also important to consider its effects on humanity. What would happen to governments when droughts are the norm? What would happen to the people? Where will people migrate to? In these five days, we will launch mini-challenges that will definitely not take much time for you to do. Feel free to tag us on your stories or posts on Facebook or Instagram so we can acknowledge your involvement. We hope we can all do this at our homes, together as a community amidst this online semester, and connect with everyone! For those of you who have completed all challenges in the five days, you will be entered into a draw for the BSDA hoodie, $5 gift card, and a BSDA certificate of completion:) We absolutely do not know everything about climate change and are also learning about it. If you have any concerns about our facts and want us to elaborate more on topics, feel free to dm us and we will try our best to answer and fix our errors!
