Birch Hills United Church 09.11.2020

For many years, Easter sunrise service has been held at Duane and Mary's farm on Bonnie Hill. Deep snow banks make site inaccessible this year, and a gathering isn't wise in Covid times. So, We are sending you a photo of sunrise behind the cross on the hill at Rockytop. How about rising before the sun on Sunday and joining in a silent, shared celebration of the resurrection? Peace and love to all this Easter. Duane and Mary

The United Church congregation at Birch Hills has officially disbanded, but.... I have been asked to lead the Christmas Eve service at Birchview again, continuing the BHUC tradition of taking our worship into the lodge to share with the residents A number of our people have joined in, so it's a GO. Consider this your invitation to join us at 6:30 Christmas Eve at Birchview. Bring along any of your visiting family members, and let's share our joy with the residents, and with the staff who will be on duty overnight and on Christmas Day. Duane

Easter Sunday is coming, and so is another sunrise service at Bonnie Hill. You are invited to join us at the Mohn place, one mile (1.6km) of highway #3 on Bonnie Hill road. Sunrise is at 5:47, so the service will begin at 5:40. You will not have to slog through snow, but the field will be wet, so wear waterproof footwear. And dress warmly. It will be a time for contemplation and renewal... After a brief service there will be coffee and buns at the house. See more

This FB page will be coming down soon, as BH United wraps up its affairs. But, I can't let it go without sharing a personally fulfilling event, the baptism of my grad-daughter Anneka, with our dear family friend Effie Cook on hand to represent the congregation. Thanks for asking, Anneka, and thanks Effie, for simply being you. Duane

Wonderful response to our closure service yesterday. Thanks to all who attended and contributed to the feast. The offering was a phenomenal $543, now on its way to support Camp Tapawingo. Camping needs all the support congregations can give it now that presbyteries are not around. I am personally proud that BHUC really stepped forward on this. Duane
