One Year Ago Today... How little did I know how much my life was about to change that day...The next two weeks were a roller coaster of stress and emotion.. We survived through all this and now we will survive the Covid virus....

June 7th Update Well the Ontario government has finally lifted the shut down on our tourist camps to be open for Canadian guests only at this time... Now we just need confirmation that the border will be opening when the Federal government has said it could, Hopefully June 21st, to be back up and running...... Do to a large number of people switching their bookings around or outright having to cancel until 2021 there is room in a lot of weeks in July, August and September if anyone is looking to book a trip or can sneak in a trip that was not planned on... Just give us a call anytime .. Currently I am still reachable at the town winter number but hope to be moved into camp full time around the 15th of June.. Roy

UPDATE: As of this morning ( May 19th ) the Canadian government has extended the border closure until June 21st.. Obviously, cooler heads have not prevailed as we had hoped in getting things opened up, but I am still hopeful that they will eventually get things re opened and running... This will make for a lot of changes for groups and I will be contacting those affected .. I am so sorry for this news..It is not what I had hoped to be telling people today.. Wishing everyone my best in this crisis .. Roy

May 11th 2020 : Update | Well the Ice has gone out to start another season but as of now the border still remains closed and we will not know any more information until May 20th as well as the Ontario government has extended the Emergency measures until June 2nd which prevents us from opening camp even if the border does open on May 20th... Currently, we are now planning on June 6th as being the first possible opening date unless the government changes things..

MAY 5th Update... Here are the specifics under the current emergency regulations: Lodges and camps remain "non-essential" and must remain closed unless you are providing a place for an essential worker to isolate as stated under "Short Term Rentals" in the essential services list. Seasonal campgrounds and trailer parks also remain "non-essential" and must remain closed unless you are providing an area for an individual to self isolate who's primary Canadian residence is their... trailer as listed under "Seasonal Campground Requirements". These emergency orders, along with all others, will be reviewed on May 6th, with possibility of extension. Leisure travel is not permitted in Ontario US/Canada border remains closed Accommodation restrictions do not allow you to accommodate those travelling for leisure travel (can only provide accommodations for essential workers who need an alternative to their own homes) Guiding services are not on the essential business list No camping on crown land is permitted No campfires are permitted The Government is emphasizing that all seasonal businesses with boat launches are not to encourage anyone to under-go non-essential travel or to facilitate access to individuals trying to get into their cottages.

2020 UPDATE ... With the border closure now being extended until May 13th , we have had to make some changes to opening week plans. We are now planning to hopefully open on May 23 or May 30 depending on when the border is officially opened. I have been contacting the groups affected to make any changes to their bookings that they may require do to this.... We understand that many people are unsure as to what may happen with their work or travel plans (flights/holiday times/etc) once things are allowed to reopen in both Canada and the US. Please understand that we will do our best to work with everyone and be as accommodating as possible to any changes in dates or group sizes. All deposits can be transferred to a later trip or next years booking if so required. Also, If you know of any people/groups that had their plans/trips cancelled by another outfitter, Please have them contact me and we will do our best to help them out with still being able to go fishing this summer. I am very thankful that after talking with everyone that I have throughout this epidemic, none of our regular guests have become sick or passed away. I wish everyone the best for recovery from this and look forward to seeing you all soon. Roy

I am very aware of this mornings news on the non essential travel ban between Canada and the US. There is still quite a long time (9 weeks) from our fishing season starting, and it looks like this will be a short term deal. I will provide all of you with updates as we get them.... PLEASE DO NOT PANIC Stay safe and say your prayers for a quick end to this horrible time for everyone. Roy
