Merry Christmas everyone! God came!
Due to the recent spike in Covid cases in the Clayton Park area, our church has made the decision not to hold in-person worship for Sunday, November 15th. There will be a Livestream service and Zoom (virtual) coffee-house available instead. Please check this Thursday's E-Blast for the appropriate meeting links. If you aren't currently receiving our E-Blast notifications and would like to receive them, please contact us.
CD to Christmas - Day 15 Heartfelt Thanks to the congregation and to Joyce who provided so much history on the 30 years of service to Hope Cottage! The volunt...eers from Birch Cove Baptist Church have been preparing a meal for Hope Cottage for approx 30 years, first in the homes and later moving to the church. The menu of baked chicken, baked potatoes, carrots, coleslaw, and cakes (which are donated each week by members of the congregation). Of course over the years we have had many different people come and go but here are a few names of those who are regulars at the present time: Ann MacFawn, Susan Levy, Sharon Sinnott, Florence Heighton, Jean Wilber, Rebecca Leano, Eunice Hawkins, and Joyce Allen. We cannot forget Vince Heighton and Brian Wilber who deliver and serve the meal. Pictures of the meal preparation seem to be quite scarce, but I am sending a couple that were taken when the children from a day care visited to learn about Hope Cottage and its meaning to those who are in need of a warm meal. We all look forward to the time we can begin to prepare and serve the meals again. Joyce Allen #soupkitchen #volunteers #christmas #grateful #communitylove
This Sunday, we commence the period of waiting for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. As we anticipate the day of his birth, we invite you to reflect with us... in Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and Light. This year, five CBM staff will lead us in personal reflection and prayer through the Advent of Generosity. We’ve prepared resources for you and your church, as we reflect during this season of waiting and celebration. For individuals there is a weekly reflection piece from each contributor complete with an audio experience. Each contributor also created a responsive reading for churches to use in their online services. The next five weeks of Prayerline will feature these Advent reflections. This week, CBM Team Lead for International Programs Julia Bowering reflects on HOPE. Cbmin.org/prayerline #Prayerline #advent See more

Thanks to everyone who generously donated socks for Hope Cottage!
At the start of the COVID-19 outbreak masks and hand sanitizers were in short supply even in Canada. However, in Odisha state, in eastern India, the situation w...as far worse. Basic necessities like hand soap were not available or too expensive for those already inpoverty. In response, Soura Baptists, with the aid of CBM's emergency relief fund, were able to act quickly purchasing and distributing soap to over 2,500 families. This has helped limit the spread of the virus within the community. We need your help to be prepared to respond to those in crisisin a timely manner. Give to Emergency Relief Appeal atcbmin.org/fallappeal2020/ today. See more
