Birch Tree Psychotherapy 09.12.2020

We have a new name! Birch trees symbolize rebirth, new beginnings, and growth, which are all amazing goals I work with my clients to achieve! You can find me at www.btpsychotherapy.com or [email protected]. :)

Birch Tree Psychotherapy 22.11.2020

Today is a weird day for many. Back to school during a pandemic has left parents and caregivers with the challenge of making big decisions about the little people in our lives. It has left teachers, teaching assistants, and school administrators with the challenging task of making schools as safe as possible, creating online learning programs, and supporting caregivers and the community. It's a really tough time for a lot of people. There is so much uncertainty and decisions... being made without all the information we wish we had. Even I can't offer specific advice, because this is the first time any of us have been through this sort of scenario. What I can do is encourage you to take care of yourself. Remind yourself that you have made the best decision you can given your circumstances and the information you currently have. Notice your feelings now and in the days that come and be gentle with yourself. Practice all of your best and favourite self-care strategies: book that massage, go for that walk, eat those healthy foods, drink that tea, go to bed early, and cuddle up with those you love and who love you. Remember: We are in this together. While our individual experiences along the way may be unique, we are travelling on this path together.

While I know it's not technically fall yet and the weather is still quite hot, I can't help feel like fall is here. Something about turning the calendar over to September and back to school approaching makes me want to decorate using warm colours and drink more tea. I am a strong believer in seasons affecting our moods. To me, fall is about slowing down and about making changes. With the trees letting go of their leaves, it seems like a good time of year to take inventory on what we could let go of. I encourage you to take a minute to consider what is no longer serving you in your life. Maybe a relationship, maybe clutter, maybe a negative thinking. Perhaps this week or this month or this season is the right time for you to let go of it.
