*Supplement Refill FAQ* . Q: How do I re-order my immune tinctures? A: Immune/Lymph Tincture and Kids Immune Glycerite will continue to be stocked at Birch Wellness. Please email [email protected] for refill requests and a staff member will place in the lockbox for pick up. .... Q: How do I re-order all other supplements? A: First, make sure you are on the appropriate supplement plan. This may require a telemedicine visit with Dr. Alea to discuss your symptoms and recommendations. If you haven't had a visit in 6+ months, its a good time to check in and make sure you are the right supplement regime. Dr. Alea will send a plan (supplement, dosing, duration) via her online dispensary, Fullscript. You will receive an email where you can order directly and have shipped to your home. . Stay tuned for more info on my next post on Fullscript. - Dr. Alea :) See more

Beautiful post from Rising Women.
Rumi says, "All medicine wants is pain to cure." And so we must cry out in our weakness, our ineptitude, our beautiful inadequacy and make of it an invitation that medicine might reach through and towards us." Grief is medicine, if we let it move through us. It is alive with beauty and most of all Love. After all love and loss are but the same seed. When we honestly and vulnerably open ourselves up to love we know that we are also dancing with Heartbreak. In the heartbreak there is immense beauty, and like a seed - when it breaks - new life forms in the darkness and rises to the light.
I felt compelled to share this point. With all this smoke around us, stimulate acupressure point Lu7 by gently pressing on the point throughout the day to help your lungs manage it. Also remember to drink lots of water and if you have any pears it’s a good time to eat them they are a food cure to nourish the lungs. Courtney

Estrogen is a group of hormones that supports our menstrual cycles and fertility, and also our bone health, brain health, and keeps inflammation in check. It ke...eps us feeling juicy and sexy, too. But like anything, too much of a good thing can mean imbalance - and frustrating and at times harmful symptoms. You may have heard the term estrogen dominance. This refers to when estrogen is too high, or more dominant than its balancing sister hormone, progesterone. Symptoms include: Cyclic breast tenderness, breast cysts, breast fullness, short menstrual cycles (< 21 days), heavy periods (which then may mean more crampy, painful periods), mood swings, menstrual migraines, and water retention. It can also contribute to endometriosis and uterine fibroids, and, unchecked, is a risk factor for breast and endometrial cancers. Why does it happen? Estrogen-mimicking hormones in your food or environment Poor gut elimination of estrogens/gut microbiome dysbiosis Low fiber diet (fiber helps to eliminate estrogens) Impaired liver detoxification of hormones Estrogen-containing birth control Healing these underlying causes is essential to healing hormone imbalances. In my practice, I use foods, nutrients, and herbs to support that process. Here are some of my favorites: Flax seeds: 2 TBS daily Leafy Greens: 2 to 4 cups daily, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choi, collards, Napa cabbage (safe even if you have a thyroid problem, just eat cooked) Legumes: to 1 cup (cooked), or 2 TBS hummus, at least 4 times/week Vitex: 180 mg in capsules or 5 mL tincture daily Dandelion root: 5 mL tincture or taken in capsules Turmeric: in foods, in capsules up to 2 gm daily, or as curcumin Enjoy and stay tuned for my upcoming articles on how to have healthy, optimized estrogen levels and more! To all my patients out there, I’m missing you all. To do our part, acupuncturist have been asked to close. I’m home with my kids and learning to be a teacher to them, and occasionally an acupuncturist to them. Although I’m not physically in the clinic, I’d really like to know how everyone is doing. Please send me updates or any new or change of symptoms so I can stay close to your case and in touch. My email is [email protected] I’ll be doing acupressure posts here... coming up with points you can do to self treat. I’ll also be doing more pediatric posts aimed at ways to help you treat your kids. Dr Alea Bell is still working and doing TeleMedicine. You can still book on the regular booking site to see her. Looking forward to hearing from everyone. Courtney

A message from Bowen Island Integrated Health: *COVID-19 Testing Notice* Hello Bowen,... We hope this message finds you all healthy and happy during these interesting times. We have been in contact with both Lifelabs and Dr. Schloegl in the efforts of building a COVID-19 testing plan. We are happy to announce that Lifelabs will continue their usual on-island services this week until otherwise indicated. Unfortunately, Lifelabs IS NOT going to be doing COVID-19 tests as they are not set-up for swabbing and testing but they will be transporting COVID-19 samples from Bowen Island to the mainland for processing. DO NOT go to Lifelabs if you think you may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Dr. Schloegl has indicated that she is able to do COVID-19 testing for individuals that have symptoms AND fit the exposure criteria. Please ensure that you fit exposure criteria before going for testing. If you are unsure what the exposure criteria is then please follow the link below: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/h/coronavirus-disease-covid-19 Bowen Island Integrated Health will be open on Monday, watching the developments and re-evaluating daily. We are following the WHO and Canadian Health guidelines to ensure health and safety of the public. We have lifted our cancellation policy and ask all symptomatic individuals to self-isolate for 14 days as indicated by the Canadian government. We are wishing everyone the best physical and mental health during these times. Remember, nature walks are safe and a great option to stay physically active right now. Best, The BIIH Team

I just finished this article I've been working on all weekend. I know you’ve been waiting to hear from me on how to prevent and treat COVID-19 naturally, partic...ularly the herbs and supplements I recommend, what I think about elderberry and cytokine storm, and more. In this article I’ll be discussing these, and in a subsequent article, coming in the next couple of days, I’ll talk about natural therapies for COVID-19 symptoms, whether they work, what’s appropriate to try, and when to get medical care.
