So, we had this lovely family in on Saturday for a Tea Party for their daughter. They had booked it a while ago and we had emailed a few times. Funny thing, I’m so English I had NO idea he was ‘anybody’ - other than a very thoughtful father arranging a lovely party for his daughter. We discussed favourite foods, favourite colours for the party, I commented on his surname definitely being from Devon, England (home of clotted cream) ... normal tea room stuff! Anyway, our serve...r, Sylvie, enlightened me as to him being a Canadian icon and all. So, now I know! Ho hum! Best thing - really nice chap, really nice family. Our Special today is my favourite Chowder recipe and is one we used to have as children, made with delicious smoked haddock (or ‘yellow fish’ as my childhood self called it) and the sweetest corn. Wonderfully creamy with a depth of flavour that is unsurpassed. I like to add bacon too.
