Wow. How many of you feel this pressure too?

I don’t normally talk about myself much on the page. But this writing made me remember. My eldest was born one month early one week after we moved here from another province. My husband was training for a new job. And we didn’t know it yet but my son newborn son would later be diagnosed with complex special needs. In those early days after the NICU my son wouldn’t go to anyone. He was glued to me and nursed almost 24/7 (any attempt to set him down or have anyone else help m...e was met with frantic pained shrieks. Not the normal cries of a newborn. I was overwhelmed and completely exhausted. I had always wanted to be a mother. I had no idea how hard it would be. I felt like a incompetent failure. I felt so very alone even with my husband beside me, because I knew despite his reassurances he could not help me in my new role of mother. The weight of all I needed to learn and do and the responsibility of meeting every demanding need this new little human consumed all I had for a time. Any mommas out there deep in the trenches & feeling alone, I want you to know it’s not just you. You are not alone in the dark. There are many who have come before you. We have been there too. We stand with you. And I want you to know that we survived. These difficult days do end. And as long as they feel now, looking back they fade & feel short. I believe in you. You are enough.
