Toronto BJJ 26.11.2020

The future of Toronto BJJ is already defined by its past. It’s always been a home for anyone regardless of skill, size or strength. To come and practice at becoming a better person in every conceivable way. Toronto BJJ was built with the idea that family isn’t just what you’re born into, but what you also make along the way. Our teachers and training partners consistently show us that there are no short cuts, no excuses and no easy path to success. Nowhere else in our lives ...are we tested like we are on the mats. We sweat, laugh, hurt, cry, bleed on those mats, and there we can learn to be free of the limits we think we know, and then when we’re ready, exceed them. #TorontoBJJ #JiuJitsuForLifeTeam

Dear local community, Toronto BJJ is a Martial Arts Academy specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) since 2004, and has been a proud member of the Bloorcourt Community since 2006. You may have noticed that we are still open, and wonder how that could be?... We are not a Gym or a Fitness Studio. Therefore, the Government did not direct us to close. We are a Private Sports Club regulated by a Provincial Sports Organization (PSO). As such we were and are allowed to be open under Stage 2. We offer training sessions for member athletes in our sport, and are the most highly decorated club of its kind in Canada. We have had more athletes on Team Canada than any other Club over the past two years. We want you to know that we share your concerns about the risks associated with Covid-19, and that is why we have developed safety procedures and protocols to keep our member athletes safe. To date, none of our several hundred members have contracted Covid-19 from training at our facility. There are no recorded cases of any transmission taking place within a member academy of our PSO. If you have questions, concerns, or are looking to become a member athlete please email us at [email protected] . Sincerely, Toronto BJJ

Professor Jorge Britto covers the concepts for guard retention and maintaining control. He then teaches two effective offensive positions once a strong defence has been established. First the Sit-Up Sweep and then a back take using the Baby Bolo. #TorontoBJJ #JiuJitsuForLifeTeam #HyperflyCanada

Ready, set, go! Mount Escape without using the Upa (avoid being smothered) Professor Jorge Britto demonstrating to the class how to use the extension of your arm to build a powerful frame. He then uses the frame to hip escape in place and replace the guard. #TorontoBJJ #JiuJitsuForLifeTeam
