Have you heard of interleaved practice? It may be a key to unlocking more progress with your practice. Andrew, Musical U Team Member, grew up being told you ha...ve to play something over and over again until you have it right. This can lead to boredom or even worse, frustration. Being bored or frustrated is counterproductive to learning. Andrew was inspired by our interview with Marc Gelfo to stop repeating things until he got bored. He discovered that practicing a piece a few times then moving to something else gave him much greater progress. He began having more fun by saying, Okay, well this is good enough for today. I'm gonna come back to it tomorrow." This has been much more beneficial to his practice than pushing himself to do lots of reps. For this weeks podcast we rewind!
