Hello BKJJ people!!! We have been monitoring since school restart and yesterday there was a new COVID case in Belleville. We are pushing back our reopening to a tentative date of October 15. If there are no additional cases in Hastings-Prince Edward from now until then we will start back up with precautions in place. Please keep an eye on this page for updates and instructions regarding our reopening.

Hello BKJJ friends. It’s been a long time. I hope you are all well. Today I got to reconnect with Senpai Dave Dudenhoffer who has been home from Alberta for a few days. Norm Sensei and I met Dave for lunch and I totally forgot to take a picture to commemorate. I am still really missing the dojo but am equally concerned for your health and safety. I would love to start back up now but with schools set to reconvene in September I am thinking about holding off to see if any local cases pop up in the midst all that classroom togetherness. October 1 seems like a long way away but that feels like the best option right now. Sound off in the comments and let me know what you think.

Students ... all the times I told you to ‘commit’ to your throw - THIS is what I mean. The smaller competitor took the center and ended up under and between his opponent’s legs in order to take kazushi. With an opponent resisting your application, halfhearted attempts only put you in bad positions. You can tell the opponent resisted completely because he didn’t have enough time to protect his face from the impact. That’s how a throw is supposed to work in practical application. Beautiful.

We will miss you Joan. Without Joan working tirelessly to support BKJJ The club would not exist today. Running Bingos, tournaments, daily operations and so much more. To the many hours you gave to the club and the love you gave all of us. THANK YOU JOAN DONOVAN. RIP

Ordered some pizza from Bourbon Street tonight and it was delivered by none other than Joshua Chorolovski. It was his last delivery of the night so we were able to have a nice long visit at the doorway. Would have been nice to have him in, but we’ll take what we can get these days. If anyone else wants to come visit me under the guise of bringing me food () come on down. I miss you all.
