Education matters. While we are still working hard on community efforts for our first series of scholarships, we want to share and support some of the other local causes. Reposting @tmbuk2edu: ... "We're back... again! Okay, we didn't really go anywhere. It's just that when you're busy in the trenches it's hard to lift your head up and see who's around.... We've been working hard to develop services to support you in all your educational endeavors. We understand that these quadmesters have been doing a number on our young learners. As a way to offset the intensity of quadmesters we are offering Online Study Halls. Online Study Halls allow high school learners to get help from one of our Learning Strategists on particular questions or topics in throughout the coming weeks. Small 3:1 Learner to Learning Strategist ratio Focused step by step guidance Multiple opportunities for support Low cost high quality support Learn more or register at www.tmbuk2edu.ca/events" #Education #BlackLivesMatter #Teacher #SupportLocal #Student #Tutor #OnlineTutoring

Our Mission Statement: The Black Education Fund helps to empower Black students to succeed. We are a volunteer not for profit organization that raises funds to create scholarships and make a sustainable impact on the lives of Black students. Our support helps to minimize financial barriers that may be faced in accessing post-secondary education (university, trade school or college). Good afternoon everyone On behalf of the Black Education Fund, I wanted to update you with what’s been happening behind the scenes, but first I must thank each of you for your commitment, patience, and donations. Your generosity and positive response has been incredibly uplifting. It has only been 7 days and we’ve accomplished so much! Below are some bullet points on our progress so far:... * To date, our collected funds from the founding members and a few outside donors totals over $3000! That is amazing considering we haven’t tapped into our vast network or put social media to work for us. * A steering committee of nine members from our founding group has been established and will begin to meet regularly. * Our not-for-profit business has been registered and is operating as the Black Education Fund. * The domain and email have been secured for collecting donations and will be available soon. * We're also starting to network with other organizations who have either done something similar, or are interested in partnering with us. Thanks again for being part of this journey, Darryl Narain

Good Morning and welcome! The original details of this initiative, created last Friday are below. The target of 100 people contributing 50$ was achieved in 5 days. As a group we decided to expand that initiative and make it ongoing and sustainable. This is a grassroots effort to raises funds to create one or more scholarships for Black post secondary students. We are currently putting a little bit of structure in place so we can receive funds, grow, communicate and remain transparent so please be patient with us! More information will be available shortly. Thanks for checking us out!
