Best of luck to all the athletes participating in the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi. The games will take place from March 14 to 21, with more than 7500 athletes from 190 countries competing in 24 sports.

Our visit to an education technology control room in the United Arab Emirates to see how the UAE is starting to manage their K-12 education system using artificial intelligence, gamification and real-time, analytics-driven interventions at the student, teacher, school, and regional levels.

A smart investment. Diversifying away from China and India allows the education sector to withstand unexpected events effecting student mobility from these countries. This is especially true for rural/smaller universities. SARS, the cancellation of the Saudi scholarship program, the war in Libya. Some universities were hit hard when their revenue relied heavily on students from a particular country. When visas/scholarships stopped, the impact on those universities was significant.

Good news for Canadian firms and educational institutes that want to grow into GCC markets.
