Here we are again moving another one of our cranes for one of our customers. This one weighs almost 50,000 pounds in this configuration. Where we live and work we never seem to have enough room. So lets see here, 3 cranes, one full B train, test weight blocks, counterweights, accessories and dolly all within about 90 feet of each other. Maybe it has something to do with putting cranes on the side of a 16 wide mountain road. This past Tuesday we folded down one of our own Self Erector cranes. It takes usually about 3 to 4 hrs to complete the removal portion on site. This video is just the 1st portion -folding down stage of the crane and starting of the removal of the counter weights. Next time Ill do a complete take down including the dolly and truck. Around the half way mark on the new BC Passive house factory addition in Pemberton BC with the 110ton. (aka Grover) We dont have full boom out here for this lift but the Boom still has a deflection of 7 with the 17,000 pound truss on the hook. With no weight on the hook the boom actually arcs up the other way. Cranes are just cool

We took our new 110 ton crane (Aka Grover) on its first job and its to a customer that Ive craned with for almost 35 yrs now (Durfeld log, Durfeld Const and BC passive) on their new addition to their factory in pemberton BC, so it was a special day for me, Theo and Chris. The lifts are fully counterweighted at (48500lbs) on the crane. Here is the start of many truss lifts that will weigh 17,000lbs and are 110 feet long that will be need to be craned in at a distance of 75. People meet our new shop cat.. For the past couple of weeks this guy has taken up residence on our (his) property and we are good with it. Here we are taking down one of our Self erecting cranes and relocating it from the back of the house to the front so they can start to shot crete. These jobs can be a bit stressful at times and require a high level of detail between the customer and us. In this case we put the crane in first and they then built the house around it. If they build the house in the wrong spot or make changes we dont know about we might not be able to fold the crane down and get it out.
