New 3D mask in action. Better design for longer wear time. Hope you like them. (Cheesy background music included no charge!!)
New 3D mask design is more breathable, helps to prevent acne (maskne) and winter smear your lipstick - ok that was mostly for me! No centre seams so this design meets safety standards put out by Public Health. Added bonus - you decide the tightness of the mask around your ears.
I love seeing the old art of mending and upcycling making a comeback. This was the rule for our parents and grandparents. If it could be mended or repaired, it most certainly was. If it couldnt, that precious fabric became something else, most often a quilt. As designers, we frown on fast fashion. The fabric and assembly of these pieces are of such poor quality, the stitching lets go, the fabric twists and shrinks, and after 3 wears, its only place is landfill! I bet... youve had this happen to you. Want to know why? The quality is all around poor, indicated by those little balls (piling), that form on clothing after wear. The fabric is often the cheapest, never prewashed to allow for twist or shrinkage, the assembly thread is thin and weak, not properly stored away from extreme heat and humidity, the machines used are usually so old and not maintained for proper stitching. Some arent even electric. https://nypost.com//meet-the-nyc-street-tailor-mending-cl/

Seamstress/tailor became too gender specific, so the title had to change. Heres a visual on why this community of artisans chose sewist rather than sewer.
