4 Months Last Week! HOW???!!

THIS was such an important share from @mo_heather this week and I asked to share it. There’s so much to think about and worry about these days but it’s so important to talk about it. Thanks Heather! #reposted @mo_heather ... This week I took a COVID-19 test. It was negative, like I thought it would be, but I’m glad I did it. I started feeling some mild irritation in my sinuses early in the week so I called my boss to talk it through. We decided the test was the responsible thing as I was supposed to be in the office next week. I wanted to share a little bit about my experience. I felt like a garbage human. My first instinct was denial. I kept trying to pretend I wasn’t feeling what I was feeling until my conscience finally wrestled my ego to the ground. Then I went through a huge amount of shame. I was reflecting on all the people I saw and the instances where I chose to not wear a mask. Then I had to deal with sudden self-isolation. I was not prepared to not be able to leave my house for days. It was hard, but in the end, it was the right thing to do. And everyone I spoke to was really kind and supportive. I realized that THIS is the new normal. Especially once kids go back to school. We’ll have to get used to people disappearing for four or five days while they wait on test results. It may have felt that way, but I’m not a garbage human. I’m part of a community and I want to keep others safe. Testing is a part of that. Of course I know I can make better choices and, trust me, I will from now on. But others in my life helped me remove the stigma from my situation and that’s what I’m hoping to do for others with this post. If you find yourself in a similar situation, DM me and we can chat. This photo is from one of my smarter choices last weekend. I used hand sanitizer and put on a mask to use my friend’s washroom. We joked that my look was peak 2020 and took a photo. I think I’m gonna be rocking this vibe a lot more often
