A little Milwaukee Tool Force Logic M18 knockout action. Picked this tool up yesterday and I'm already in love. It's so much more efficient than the hydraulic and ratchet style knockouts!

Had a really nosey client who watched my every move yesterday. Normally I hate this, but for some reason it didn't bug me nearly as much this time!

Scorching hot day for a solar install ! 33 degrees in the sun definitely takes your energy away quickly . This 7.2kW array and 5kW inverter went up quickly and will be producing around 6,000kWh annually to offset the client's entire electrical consumption! This install will also qualify for a rebate from the City of Edmonton for nearly $3,000! This will offset a significant portion of the costs associated with the install. In addition to the solar, the client will be installing an EV Charger connected directly to his inverter! This charger will allow him to charge his EV directly with power generated from his solar array!

New Tesla Model Y and Gen 3 Wall Connector installed on a DCC-10 Electric Vehicle Management System. The DCC-10 will monitor the entire electrical consumption of the house and cycle off the EV charger if the main service ever becomes overloaded. This allowed the client to install a charger with higher amperage than would be allowed on his electrical service under normal circumstances! Check out the slick charging port hidden in the tail light! #Tesla #EV #ElectricVehicle

Had a service call at a long time client's building. One of their motor had quit working. Upon arriving our electrician noticed that the C phase of the 3 phase motor was completely burnt up. The motor had been single phasing due to a squirrel knocking down phases A and B and as a result had been putting very high currents through C phase! You can see the melted marrette on the bottom of the junction box. Once power was restored by EPCOR, we were able to test the winding of the motor, replace the damaged conductors and get everything fired back up! Needless to say, that squirrel won't be making that mistake again!

You haven't struggled until you've tried to line up 20 conduits in a 24x24" junction box by yourself . This was one of many distribution points for a Building Management System installed in a pipe mill in Edmonton. All our prep work for conduits under the slab paid off big time as the wire pulls and finishing went seamlessly!

Bonding of reinforcing steel and all metal parts in and around a pool is vital for the safety of everyone using the pool. All rebar, deck boxes, lights, metal diving board supports, ladders, and more are required to be bonded back to the electrical panel feeding the pool equipment. Here is an example of the bonding required for a swim-jet pool installed in one of the houses we wired!

In light of recent events we wanted to send out this notice to remind everyone not to take any unnecessary risks. Due to the increasing COVID-19 concern, BLDG Electric has taken the following steps: We have asked any employees or staff showing symptoms of illness, or who have been in contact with someone who has tested positive to stay home and follow the recommended isolation procedure. All non-essential business travel/meetings have been eliminated. Office employees... will be given the option to work from home if feasible or required. Any employees or staff who are self isolating will be offered funds to ensure bills are paid during their time away from work. We will continue to work cautiously and follow the latest recommendations from AHS and the CDC.
