Next Wednesday, March 17th the Owl will be open from 5-10pm. If you'd like to celebrate St. Patricks day with us please book your slot as soon as possible. Space as you all know is very limited. Nearly everyone has a Christmas movie they consider to be timeless. You can probably guess our pick by the cocktail’s name. To think of the holidays is to think of family, friends, and flavours we’ve enjoyed together for generations. This drink incorporates flavours that our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents might have enjoyed. We put together a house-made roasted chestnut and cranberry syrup with a bit of fresh squeezed orange juice, hinting at the age-old tradit...ion of oranges in stockings. The finishing touch, of course, is a snowfall of delicate dark chocolate shavings to make this drink a new holiday favourite. This week we took some inspiration from "con la mosca" the Sambuca fly. Associated with the mood and charm of the Dolce Vita, the period from the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s. There are no guaranteed historical sources which recount this story : The most common legend is that three flies were drawn to the sugary sweet sambuca and landed in an old ladies glass. As they had disturbed the old lady and her family, her solution was to flambé the sambuca with a ...match. Another fascinating story about the origins of Sambuca fly is an anecdote which is connected with the world of cinema and has a Roman bar in Via Veneto as its protagonist, where some great Italian actors used to get together to drink and have fun. These were the years of the Dolce Vita and sitting at the tables were Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg and Walter Chiari, to name just a few. It would seem that, while everyone was intent on chatting, for a joke someone threw a coffee bean in the liqueur of the person next to them, shouting There’s a fly!. The rest is history, and from that time on Sambuca with a fly has become more and more successful, becoming one of the favorite combinations, not only of Italians, but also of all those who appreciate the pleasant contrast between the sweetness of the liqueur and the bitter taste of the coffee, especially at the end of a meal. For good luck the three coffee beans represent health, wealth and happiness. Cheers! We are very excited to announce that the Owl will be reopening our patio and celebrating Canada day tomorrow from 4pm until midnight! This week we will be featuring a watermelon swizzle, grilled pineapple mule, and strawberry rosemary shrub aswell as any classic cocktail you can think of. We are so excited to be back, we can't wait to see everyone. Please bare with us as seating will be very limited.

A popular saying that couldn't be more true...'Time definitely fly's when you're having fun'. Five years ago today, we took a big chance to see if Windsor would accept a speakeasy style cocktail bar, specializing in classic and original cocktails in a low key, relaxed environment. We were accepted with open arms and proved that our beautiful city was more than ready for us. Today would have been one of our biggest celebrations to date, marking an unbelievable milestone in ...this very challenging industry. We want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us throughout our 5 years downtown. We couldn't be more happy and pleased with how Windsor has accepted us, and continues to show us support during this time.
