Happy Family Day Weekend! We hope you've been able to get out and enjoy this lovely weather with your family. There are lots of free local events tomorrow! Free ice skating, roller skating, and events at the YMCA top our list. What else is happening tomorrow?

Our family just got home from a month in Puerto Rico and walking on the beach I couldn't help but be reminded of birth. It's not uncommon with my clients to hear me tell them during their contractions to "ride the wave" as it builds, swells, and peaks... then quiet until the next wave comes. Within my own births I've pictured contractions as waves.... each one, getting stronger but bringing me closer to shore to meet my baby Blissful Birth is accepting clients for 2017! Can you imagine?! We are so lucky to live in a time (and country!) where our babies will still thrive even if mom is unable or chooses not to breastfeed! Moms now can breastfeed, formula feed, access specialty formulas if their baby needs them, or may use donated breast milk. No borrowing the neighbours' goat required!

These are some great points newly released by ACOG! Love that they are looking at a less medical/invasive approach when talking about low risk/normal births! And a shout-out for doulas! "Evidence suggests that, in addition to regular nursing care, continuous one-to-one emotional support is associated with improved outcomes for women in labor."
