Blooms by the River 21.02.2021

, Jared showed up with a bouquet of flowers and I commented that the lilies in it were my favourite flower. He joked that he should have saved money and picked some orange ones out of the ditch for me if he had known. Seriously though. Those are my absolute favourite! So now every July when they start blooming I get armloads of ditch flowers. I have had all kinds of daylilies and ‘fancy’ lilies in my perennial gardens over the years. Every once in ...a while I split some and plant them over the hill. I’m picturing an eventual hillside of blooms. *Either that or a buffet for deer.* The daylilies are not suitable for cut flowers, but the loads of Oriental and LA hybrid varieties I have ordered for this season are! Shown here are a few of the varieties I will have growing, and then swipe to see some of my own garden lilies. #bloomsbytheriver #flowerfarmer #firsttimeflowerfarmer #canadianflowerfarmer #bouquets #lilies #shetlandontario #lambtoncounty #dawneuphemia #ckont #freshflowers #locallygrownflowers #grownnotflown

? They are one of the prettiest ways to start the spring growing season! I never had much appreciation for them until I learned about all the specialty varieties. Charming Beauty? Apricot Parrot? Black Hero? I want them all! Do you like the fancy tulips? Or are you a fan of traditional single tulips? I can’t wait for you to see my tulip bouquets this spring!... #flowerfarm #firsttimeflowerfarmer #bloomsbytheriver #cutflowers #tulipbouquet #shetlandontario #dawneuphemia #lambtoncounty #ckont #freshflowers

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall! I love all the seasons here. I may love them all, but I am not so patiently waiting for warmer weather this year because I am so excited for our first season as flower farmers! Which season do you love most? #ontarioflowergrowers #flowerfarming #firsttimeflowerfarmer #bloomsbytheriver #shetlandontario #lambtoncounty #ckont #dawneuphemia #cutflowers #bouquets #freshflowers #grownlocally

! Is that cheesy? Yes. It’s true though! I’m glad for glads. I love the varieties of gladiolus I will be planting this season. Do you love gladiolus? Have you grown them before? What colour shown here is your favourite? I love Green Star (bottom left). #seasonallygrown #flowerfarming #flowerfarm #firsttimeflowerfarmer #bloomsbytheriver #bestwhenfresh #cutflowers #bouquets #shopontario #lambtoncounty #ckont #shetlandontario #dawneuphemia #grownlocally

I know many of us can’t wait for springtime, but I can’t wish this away too quickly. Growing up on the banks of the Sydenham all we did in the winter was pray for snow so we could explore, toboggan, go ice fishing, build winter forts and snowmobile. Yes I’m cold. No I don’t like shoveling snow. I can’t wait to be in my field planting flowers. But that view? I’ll take it- snow and all! #shetlandontario #bloomsbytheriver #lambtoncounty #dawneuphemia #sydenhamriver
