Shoulder Impingement The Rotator Cuff described a group of four muscles that hold your shoulder in its socket while your larger muscles move your arm. Your rotator cuff tendon lives in an area of your shoulder called the subacromial space. ... Sometimes, this space can become crowded by abnormally shaped bones, arthritis, spurs, or even lazy muscles that fail to keep the bones separated properly! This overcrowding may create a painful pinching of the rotator cuff tendon when you raise your arm. This condition is called Impingement. Initially, your symptoms may be limited to a sharp pain during overhead activity or while reaching behind your back. As this condition progresses, you may develop a constant ache that is present even at rest. Your successful treatment with a chiropractor at Bloor Yonge Chiropractic will focus on restoring your range of motion and eliminating pain through specialized joint manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and therapeutic exercise. #chiropractor #chiro #yongeandbloor #yongebloor #torontochiropractor #shouldermobility #shoulderpain #shoulderimpingement #torontochiro

Cervicogenic Dizziness FEELING DIZZY? The solution may be simpler than you think Patients with dizziness of cervical origin present with the sensation of spinning, unsteadiness, and imbalance associated with jaw and neck pain and stiffness.... Cervicogenic Vertigo/Dizziness is linked to dysfunction of the cervical spine that results in a disequilibrium of sensory information between receptors of the neck, inner ear, and eyes that leads to an abnormal perception of the head in space and sensation of spinning. This subtype of dizziness responds favorably to chiropractic treatment alone or in combination with acupuncture, massage, and vestibular exercises. If you experience these symptoms, book a consultation with Dr. Igor Sapozhnikov to discuss treatment. #dizziness #DizzinessRelief #chiropractor #chiro #osteopathy #yongeandbloor #torontochiropractor #tmj #tmjdisorder #spinningsensation

Workstation Ergonomics Working or studying from home this upcoming winter? Use these ergonomic tips to help avoid aches and pains at the end of your day. Ergonomics is the science of adjusting your workstation to avoid strain in the following ways: ... 1. Avoid cradling a phone between your neck and shoulder. Consider using a headset or Bluetooth device to keep your neck from bending. 2. Monitors should be visible without leaning or straining. The top line of type on your screen should be 15 degrees below eye level. Do not position your monitor too far away, as this could cause you to lean forward to focus. 3. Relax your shoulders and bend your elbows 90 degrees, then position your mouse and keyboard so that you do not need to move your arms or bend your wrists to reach them. 4. Keep your hips and knees at 90 degrees, feet flat on the floor or footrest 5. Avoid sitting on anything that would create an imbalance or uneven pressure (like your wallet or phone). 6. Take a 10-second break every 20 minutes: Perform micro activities such as walking, stretching or moving your head in a controlled plus sign fashion. Specifics for standing workstations 1. Keep your head, neck, torso and legs vertically aligned. 2. Wear shoes that provide proper arch support. 3. Use a footrest to shift your weight from foot to foot. 4. Adjust the footrest to approximately 10% of your total body weight. #ergonomics #chiropractor #torontochiro #ergonomicassessment

Temporomandibular Disorder (TMJ Disorder) Temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders, commonly called "TMJ" are a group of conditions that stem from dysfunction of the jaw joint and muscles that control jaw movement. Furthermore, TMJ disorder is a combination of physical, psychosocial, and psychoemotional components, as it strongly associated with depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and accessory chewing activities. Statistics show that at any given moment approximately 5...-12% of the population suffers from the disorder. Typical symptoms of TMJ are pain, clicking, grinding, limited opening, jaw locking, and headaches. However, it is common to experience earache, ringing in the ear, toothache, Vertigo, throat pain, ear fullness, or pressure. Researchers generally agree that the conditions fall into three main categories: 1. Myofascial pain involves discomfort or pain in the muscles that control jaw function. 2. Internal derangement of the joint involves a displaced disc, dislocated jaw, or injury to the condyle. 3. Arthritis refers to a group of degenerative/inflammatory joint disorders that can affect the temporomandibular joint. It has been shown that surgical treatment is no more effective, but much more invasive when compared to conservative management. Exercise, massage, physical therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care all provide benefits in combination or individually. If you are experiencing the above described symptoms contact Dr. Igor Sapozhnikov for a consultation. #tmjdisorder #tmjrelief #tmjtreatment #tmjpain #migrainerelief #migraineawareness #torontochiropractor #yongeandbloor
