The pollinator garden is blooming full blast but the veggie gardens are ready to be harvested in many cases. Please if you haven't visited your garden in five days or more go and see what is ready for picking. The large pink flowers are Phlox and you can see a couple of nicotine (white tubular flower) that self seeded from last year and the dill that I let grow up instead of pulling. I have a veggie garden that needs fertilized badly and it gave me three ripe cherry tomato and a small yellow courgette.
Summer is here and the gardens are growing well. Not too late to get planting.
Looking good at the garden. July 2 2020
Don’t forget our AGM at 2:00p Saturday
Lots of folks getting their beds planted. I widened the path coming in from Alderwood Court. Hopefully we can get some crusher dust.
We are now OK to start gardening or at least look and clean up. Many beds have been renewed and more will be done soon or at least until the money runs out. The winter was very hard on many of the old beds whose condition wasn't too bad. Now they are.
It’s OK to start working on our veggie gardens. I was there today and two gardeners dug up part of their gardens and planted . It was a joy to be in the sunshine!
If someone wants compost, Mark is local
In my latest FB live, I've got some advice for new veggie gardeners looking to build a new raised bed or grow in pots.
At last count we have 15 beds left in sunny areas and the whole of the last row over which has half shade making it desirable for plants that don't need sun all day.(7) beds Payment in some cases will have to be delayed due to the virus and no contact. Make use of being housebound right now and plan your garden. Also think about what additives you want to add to your soil. Makes the time fly.
The other day I took a short drive to photograph the garden showing the new beds. More will be replaced this spring but only the beds that need it. Many are now reserved and paid for. You can phone me (Heather) to secure a bed and/or pay for the bed. 902-440-5032
