BLUSH PINK - By Catherine Trautmann Blush pink, continues to be one of the big colour trends for 2017, can add a subtle sophistication and softness to any room in your home. If you want to put a contemporary look on a traditional space, a touch of blush pink is now the ticket. Blush pink is actually quite a flexible colour. Pair it with white and neutrals, balance with wood and stone and you will always have a winner. It also works well with soft green, pale brown and chalky... grey slate. Blush pink used with mint green can be grounded using silver, white or black. A more relaxed subtle look can be achieved using blush pink with light natural woods giving you a rustic feel with a touch of sophistication and calm. Introduce trendy accent finishes in gold, bronze and brass finishes in accessories, frames and accent pieces. Make it glam or tone it down. If you really like pink, another eye catching way to use blush pink in a room is to paint your walls blush pink and add hot pink on top of it in textiles and accessories to make it "sing even brighter". If you don’t want to go all the way with blush pink, accent your room with pillows, throws and accessory pieces. Indigo blue added to blush pink will give your room a sense of drama. Adding tufts and gathering will take you over the top in feminine appeal giving a dreamy romantic feel to your space. On the other hand pink blush with gold and ivory will give you that totally glam girl appeal. According to Rebecca Williams of Hilda Living - fabrics such as sumptuous velvet, brushed cottons and linens work perfectly to add a luxurious touch. She recommends you dress your windows with lighter weight linen or organza to emphasize the sense of radiance and light in you decor. It is true that even though pink is traditionally a feminine colour, it can be used as a contemporary colour in a more ‘gender-neutral’ way. Add grey to give it a masculine feel, and note that the darker the grey the more masculine it becomes. Most importantly, have fun with this intriguing and versatile colour and you won’t be sorry!
