NEW DIXXONS ARRIVING WEEKLY We didn’t order Dixxons just for Christmas!! We will continue to have a large selection year round. Come visit us anytime to see the new selection of styles and sizes.
Thank you Ian Moats for welcoming us last evening to your acreage to enjoy 55,000 Christmas lights!! (he planted every tree and hangs the lights himself) Every year Ian raises an incredible amount of money to support the mental health unit at the General Hospital. He supplies items that the government does not provide. He stands behind what he believes in and donates his time in addition to all the money he raises. This guy is a true gem and you know this the moment you meet... him. Last night we all needed this for our mental health. Kids were smiling, families were laughing, it felt like the ol’ days. The overwhelming amount of support was amazing and this led to a visit from the RCMP. As a result, until further notice the event will be drive in only. This is not the same experience and may negatively affect the number of people visiting. Please consider donating to friendsof1d@sasktel.

PHASE ONE COMPLETE! This old safe is guessed to weigh over 2 tons. Getting it to the shop has been quite an ordeal. Next step is getting through the door. Thanks to Brandon Fuchs for organizing and Graham's Tire Service for transporting. The boys from Ironworkers Local 771 made sure this bad boy didn’t fall and hurt anyone.
Back in the day barbers were considered the first surgeons. They pulled teeth, amputated limbs and performed bloodletting. We have a few of these bloodletting tools in the shop. Come check them out in the spirit of Halloween.
Dixxon’s are very poplar. Thanks Manny Caron for making us laugh everyday.
The origin of the term cowlick is said to have come from the domestic bovine’s habit of licking it’s young which results in a swirling pattern in it’s hair. A skilled barber can virtually make your cowlick disappear! Thanks to Kiel Gorrill for having us pay him a visit to his farm. Support your local economy SaskMilk!
One more for Halloween! Bluecore will be selling Dixxon Flannel Co.The Myers in the shop for $66.60 plus taxes (special pricing) . This flannel is not Bluecore embroidered. Limited sizes available so come grab yours soon. No holds. L, XL, XXL sizes available. We will do our best to have a wider range of sizes for all you small and big guys in the future Dixxon Canada orders.
Pause in silence for the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict, and peace. Originally called Armistice Day, Remembrance Day commemorates the armistice agreement that ended WWI on November 11th, 1918, at 11am. 11th hour, 11th day, 11th month. Lest we forget.
We have spots available this week. Call us, walk in, or use the Booksy App. bluecorebarber.booksy.com 306-559-6252 Picture by Les Chelle Photography friend of the shop. Barber Manny Caron, red seal barber.... Dixxon Canada The Salem. See more
Kidding aside, Labour Day provides us the opportunity to look back and give gratitude to all those whose hard efforts led to the benefits and opportunities we enjoy today. The paid holidays, unemployment insurance, fair wages and hours are due to the hardship and hard work that went into gaining these rights. Goofing around with Troy Fleece at J.W. Zalusky & Sons.
Thanks Troy Fleece for the images in this article. You are the best!
Do you remember using a rotary phone? This one is in our shop and works. It took George over 5 minutes but he finally called his dad. Thanks for being such a great sport George!
Having a DART? Did you know this originated as an Aussie term for cigarettes? Canadians say this slang especially in the prairie provinces. Some people think its because you hold a cigarette similarly to how you would hold a dart. Who knows?
HUNGOVER lately? The term being hungover was thought to have referenced the lowest form of accommodation to bend over a rope for the night for the price of a penny. Usually reserved for the drunken sailors who spent all their money drinking. If this is true or not we have all been there.... feeling like we literally hung over a clothesline the night before! Whats the strangest position you have slept in? Keep it clean boys and girls...
No, this isnt the cover of an 80s Rock Album... this is Bluecore. Picture by Troy Fleece on the back of a J.W. Zalusky truck where it all started.
Sunday Bluecore style! Collectors Car Club of Saskatchewan hosted a car show and cruise this past weekend. Doesnt get much better then this.
HAIR OF THE DOG .....ever wondered why you resort to this to cure your hangover? The expression refers to an old myth that if you got bit by a rabid dog you would treat it by rubbing a clump of dogs hair in the wound to help it heal faster. Another belief is that you could take a potion containing dogs hair to cure rabies. Doesnt matter where it came from, we think it works. What about you?
If you have been to the shop especially on a Friday you get it. The jokes, the laughs..... thats what this shop was built for, thats what this shop is all about! Picture Troy Fleece
HAPPY FATHERS DAY FROM BLUECORE
BLUECORE COVID CONDUCT #2....... we will never refuse cash. Paper money was first used when New France colonists used playing cards in place of coins. Old World coins were difficult to get so they signed off on making playing cards legal currency. If its convenient for you, we sure wont refuse your cash, but please dont try using a king of spades to pay us.
BLUECORE COVID CONDUCT #1.... we will never refuse your handshake. Considering we are just about to touch your head and face for a half hour, we are cool with it. The history of the handshake was to mutual dislodge any hidden weapons up ones sleeve. Today it is still considered a sign of respect. If you feel comfortable, we feel comfortable (once sanitized of course).
DID YOU KNOW.... Barbers were the first surgeons. Called barber-surgeons they performed bloodletting (like an oil change for your blood) extracted teeth, drilled holes in skulls, and amputated limbs. Pretty much anything the upper class doctor thought was beneath him. It wasnt until 1754 that surgeons and barbers separated roles. Maybe now you dont feel so bad about asking the guys to clean your ears, better than the enemas they did back in the day.
Its been ONE WEEK since these two joined the Bluecore Crew. Joined a bunch of crazy buggers, during a very strange time but still being a class act. Cheating on your barber is encouraged at Bluecore. Check out Manny Caron and Pascale Winichuk next time you need a cut.
Fully booked, five barbers, totally exhausted but worth it. Regina kicked ass today at supporting local.

From journeyman welder to journeyman barber, Bluecore welcomes Pascale Winichuk to the family. Pascale worked as a welder for over 10 years and needed a change so decided to head to New Brunswick to pursue another male dominated career in barbering. Lets just say she can hold her own with the Bluecore Army, especially the blue collar boys that frequent the shop. Welcome Pascale, get ready, not sure if you know what you are in for. Bluecorebarber.booksy.com

The show must go on! Yesterday the power went out and we couldnt leave a man with a half a shave. Some Bluecore patrons lite up Tyson Lee so he could finish the job. Thanks to Roger Bayerlee from Don's Photo for capturing this moment and Jody Bagamery for his patience while we got the job done.
HISTORY OF THE HANDSHAKE... We do it all the time, but why? The handshake has existed for thousands of years and a symbol of peace showing that an empty right hand meant neither person was carrying a weapon. The up and down motion was supposed to dislodge any knives or daggers that may be hidden up a sleeve. With the fear of Coronavirus should this age old tradition cease? What are your thoughts? Thanks to Dustin Reine for letting us video him today.
Travis Nolan has been a Bluecore family member since the day we opened. He has been coming around with cool bikes that he passionately restores and sells. This hobby has turned into what today is known as TCs Customs. Travis took this picture when we first opened and generously gifted us with this painting by Paula Phillipo-Hugel. We sincerely thank you! You are one of the original Bluecore Army members.
Our blue collar friend, Jason Macpherson, is keeping this lost art alive!
Tyson finally came to terms with his reality. Living his true self he decided to remove his hairpiece. Looking for your opinion on what to call this new cut.
BLUE COLLAR SASKATCHEWAN! Bluecore respects the blue collar workers before us that built this province. Every picture in this video is from Saskatchewan. Do you have pictures of your hard working family from the early years? Share them with us!
Jason is back. Nothing was stopping him from getting back to cutting, shaving, and being with the crew! Book now as spots will fill fast with The Brass Knuckle Barber. Photograph thanks to Troy Fleece. BLUECOREBARBER.BOOKSY.COM
OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Yes, this was taken today. Jason was given a day pass for our one year anniversary. He only stayed a short time but was able to celebrate this accomplishment with his Bluecore brothers. We have witnessed how much our Bluecore family care while Jason has been in the hospital. It has been overwhelming and humbling to say the least. We sincerely thank you. Every visit, every interaction, every cut, we are creating something more than just a barbershop and its because of all of you. Lets keep this ride going strong and never slow down! #bluecorearmy #bluecollarbuilt #bluecollarrespect
