The Employment Start-Up program provides assistance to clients with purchasing the required materials for employment including clothing and footwear. These funds help clients to gain and maintain employment on their journey to secure housing. The Employment Start-Up program is partly funded by the Newmarket Charitable Gaming Association (NCGA). A not-for-profit association of more than 50 not-for-profit organizations in the York Region. Members hold a Charitable Gaming perm...it to volunteer at Bingo World and Gaming Newmarket in order to raise funds for organizations like Blue Door. The NCGA has now reopened with measures in place to keep all participants and members safe including mandatory masking. Blue Door, located in York Region, provides safe and supportive emergency housing, housing services, and supports for people who are experiencing homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to prevent homelessness or to rapidly rehouse anyone who finds themselves without a safe place to call home. The Blue Door Board of Directors is seeking members of the public who are ready to help end homelessness. Four vacancies are available t...o serve on the Board beginning immediately, for a three-year term. This is an opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on our community. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about ending homelessness and who will draw on their lived and professional experience to expand the unique voices on our Board. We are looking for team players who want to roll up their sleeves to help us drive the strategic vision of Blue Door. We would like our Board to reflect the diversity of our Region and as well the people we support. Dynamic, creative individuals with the experience, expertise, and commitment to meet our criteria are encouraged to apply. All applications will be considered based on merit; however, preference will be given to candidates with a background in law, accounting/finance, government relations/advocacy or real estate/construction, in order to fill existing experience gaps on the Board.
