Premier Jason Kenney announced the 3-stage strategy to relaunch the Alberta economy as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a result of the hard work ...of Albertans and their adherence to public health guidelines, and the safety of Albertans will inform all stages of the relaunch strategy. Stage 1 of the Relaunch Strategy will take place on May 14th if health measures are achieved to the satisfaction of the government based on the advice of the chief medical officer. But some restrictions will be loosened as early as tomorrow. Starting tomorrow, Friday, May 1st, vehicle access to parking lots and staging areas in parks and on public lands will be open, as well as a number of boat launches in provincial parks. Starting Monday, May 4th, AHS will resume some scheduled, non-urgent surgeries, and golf courses will be allowed to open with restrictions including keeping clubhouses and pro shops closed. Stage 1 of the Relaunch Strategy will include: - Hair salons and barbershops may open. - Campsites may begin to be booked for June 1st. - Restaurants, bars and patios may open to 50% capacity (must maintain social distancing). - Retail business can open again, as well as museums and art galleries. - Day cares, summer camps and out of school care may resume (strict limits on social distancing must be enforced).
