Partners are ah-mazing support for their birthers - they know them inside and out, what they like, what they don't like and what they're saying when they aren't saying anything. They love them more than anyone else in that birth space... ... but partners get tired too. They get hungry. They need to use the washroom. They get scared. It can be hard to watch the person they love in pain and it can be hard to know how to navigate the changing emotions of the birth space. What if... there was a person who could be there to spell them off for a quick snack, a bathroom break, or a snooze? What if they had that compassionate squeeze on the shoulder or reassuring look that let them know that "this is all ok and this is all completely normal" so that they can ease their own fears and focus solely on supporting you? That's what a birth doula does. Not only are they there for you as the birthing person, but they are there for your partner in whatever capacity they may need. Many a partner has related that they didn't realize how stressed they were until their doula arrived, and the sense of relief that came in with them. What if birth could be an amazing, empowering experience for not only you, but your partner as well? Let's chat and see how we can make that happen. See more

As a long time yoga practitioner and instructor, I know how effective breath and movement is... those two things have carried me through much of the last 15 years, both the good parts and the not-so-good parts. They also carried me through the birth of my two babes. Having someone who innately understands and respects your prenatal body guide you through yoga as your birth approaches can create opening and relaxation, both physically and emotionally for what is to come. Hav...ing someone who has a deep understanding of breath, movement, positioning and relaxation support you through your birth can be invaluable in achieving the birth of your dreams. When a single person can provide you with BOTH, the connection and trust that is built is intensified and the experience heightened. So whether you are an experienced yoga practitioner looking for someone who can accommodate and empower your changing practice while building a bond that will carry through your birth or you are brand new to the idea of yoga and are just looking for someone patient and experienced to help bring some calm awareness to your amazing body and what it can do both leading up to and during birth, let me know. My love for yoga and birth is here, ready and waiting for you no matter where you are on your journey.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing family doctors, OBGYNs, midwives and doulas coming together to support YOUR birth and your birth choices. I have had so many clients tell me that it was their midwives who recommended that they search out and hire a doula! This is such an amazing thing to hear time and time again because many people believe that if they have a midwife, they don’t need a doula. However, doula support can and DOES fit beautifully within the midwifery model o...f care! Can’t get a spot with a midwife? That’s OK! There are so many family doctors and OBGYNs out there that are doula-friendly. Seek them out and advocate for your choice to have a doula on your birth team!! We promise you won’t regret it! Interested to see how doulas fit on YOUR birth team? Reach out and let’s start that conversation!!

Did it feel like your doula had superpowers? Mine sure did. She knew everything I needed right when I needed it. The reality is that we don’t have superpowers (shock, I know!!) but what we do have are warm hands, open hearts, and so much love, encouragement and empathy for the people we work with. And did you know that that results in STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT decreases in the length of your labor, incidence of interventions and need for emergency cesarean birth? If you love numbers and evidence-based backing like I do, check out The Doula Book by Marshall Klaus, MD, John Kennell, MD, and Phyllis Klaus, MFT, LMSW - not only is it an amazing book but it is FULL of stats from studies across the world that show the impact doula care has not only on immediate obstetric outcomes but on long-term outcomes as well.
