Still hard at work...living in the "curling" world right now. Helping with the Sandra Schmirler Telethon and doing some PR work for a special team heading to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in February. The amount of obstacles that the pandemic created and that we need to consider in preparing these teams and events is craziness. But one must keep on trucking!

Setting up your website with keywords is basically Christmas for Google. Google scans your website and pulls out these words...so basically you are helping to build Google's database. So how do you know what keywords to use? What would people search for to find you? You can use the Google keyword planner tool to generate a list. You then apply those within your website...add them to your headings, name your images and make sure that any text is packed with those magic words. Google does the rest!

Something you may not know about me is that I love everything Halloween. Another way for me to show my creative side. My kids and I transform our garage and yard into a haunted house every year and this year...well, we are going all out. When I am not behind a computer or in the studio...then you can find me hanging out with these cool guys!

I have a thing about over using exclamation points. After my previous boss made mention that I may need to refrain from using them so often, I make a point now to use periods more...to keep the crazy down!!!

Marketing your business is more important than ever right now, so having a clear plan for what your goals are for 2021 should be top priority. 1. Who is your target audience? 2. Is your branding representing your business? 3. Are you getting your message out? Are you being heard?... 4. Is your website up-to-date with what you can offer? 5. Are your social posts engaging? Crap...I don't even use social? 6. Is there other advertising platforms that I haven't tried that may be beneficial? Take a moment. Ask yourself some of these questions. Breathe. You good. Apparently, I have been pretty busy since July 15th...websites, social, events oh my. I think it's time to update the calendar.

Blue Street Media is revamping the website. When I first created it, I was my own worst client. Just put something up so we have a website. OMG, really Kayla. I have been building so many amazing websites for my friends and clients over the past couple of weeks, so I decided that with all the creativeness in my head, I want to push that out to a website that I myself can be proud of. Over the past couple of weeks I have been changing up how I look at the projects presented to me. My clients are just like me, they are business owners that want to succeed and be able to help people, but also provide for their family. They have a STORY. We all do. So If you ask me to build you a website, I am going to reply, yes...I will help you tell your story. If you ask me to run your social media channels...I will reply, yes I will share your story. Marketing is about sharing your story with your audience and engaging them in the love you have found for your business.

So I definitely know that my post should be still behind the camera and behind LOL! I am not a good public speaker! I can sit and chat with you in person for hours but cameras freak me out LOL! Kudos to all of you motivational speakers and people that do this on a daily basis! I'm sure if I got used to it I would be better but today not my A-game unfortunately! I'm going to stick to what I know and that's the technology and digital side about producing virtual events, websites, social media and all that geeky stuff that I love!
