Medical Officer of Health Rescinding Order for Beach Closures in Grey Bruce The Grey Bruce Health Unit Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra, is rescinding th...e Order of May 14, 2020 that required municipalities to close all beaches in Grey and Bruce Counties. This Order is effective today, Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. The risk of COVID-19 transmission and community spread remains. To address this risk each municipality can maintain its beach closure based on local need. The intent of the May 14 Order was to send a message provincially that Grey and Bruce Counties are not open for tourism yet. This would deter one-day visitors and prevent mass gatherings on beaches. The ultimate goal is to suppress community transmission of Covid-19 for all residents in Grey and Bruce and protect the most vulnerable of us, seniors and individuals with comorbidities who would suffer severe disease. The Grey Bruce Health Unit Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra, is ordering municipalities to close all beaches and shore in Grey and Bruce Counties. This d...irective applies to all municipal managed beaches and shoreline in both counties. This order is in effect from noon on May 15, 2020 until rescinded. This closure means that no activity of any kind can take place and that the following are closed to all persons: - Beaches - Boardwalks (north and south) - Gardens by the Boardwalk - Any portion of the Trails System that goes along the shoreline - Any structures on the beach - Marinas, boat launches and piers The Grey Bruce Health Unit has identified that there is increased risk of transmission of COVID-19 in unsupervised and unregulated open public setting such as beaches. Closing beaches and shores will prevent their use by casual visitors, reduce unnecessary travel locally and inter-provincially, and lessen the attraction of others to visit the area. While the re-opening of certain sector of the economy is a priority, there is a great need to continue to do everything possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. After yesterdays exiting news from the Provincial Government, I’m sure you all had really high hopes of camping this May 24 weekend and I’m very sorry to be the one to deliver the unfavorable news. The Kincardine COVID-19 working group met this morning to review the most recent announcement and from Premier Ford and below is how the Municipality of Kincardine is responding with regards to the Bluewater Trailer Park at this time: The Municipality is seeking clarification on t...he Provincial Announcement of Thursday May 14, 2020 and how it affects the Municipal Trailer Park. Until we are able to follow the strict protocols set out by the Province and ensure the safety and well being of the people who utilize that site, it will remain closed. Please be patient a little while longer and remember that while this is not the response we were hoping for, your safety and the safety of your friends and neighbors is of the utmost importance right now.
